Drove from Pisa to Florence and was great to pay no tolls like in France. The only downside being there is no money to improve the roads so was a very bumpy journey! With rain and heavy winds forecast we couldn't decide whether to go hide in the museums of Florence or head to the beach and keep our fingers crossed. After some compass work and amateur weather forecasting we decided to go with the beach and some Italian Carnavale at Viareggio.... Pisa today so a lot of time was spent looking at the leaning tower and marvelling but even more time was spent trying to construct the best photo with the tower! Let's call it a photography lesson. Then on to the next most important activity of the day - pizza in a piazza in Pisa - tick. We did then climb the tower and try more crazy photos at the top, as well as being slightly disconcerted by the world looking a bit wonky from up there! And finally - gelato...

We had a wonderful day today! From the stunning views of the sparkling, turquoise waters to the roller coaster like journey on the bus. Overall, I must say this is one of the best days we've had! We started the day with freezing showers, meaning we missed the bus. Luckily, the lady was kind so we got to the station just in the nick of time!
