First full day at sea, late for us breakfast at 0830. Then had a walk around the ship to burn breakfast off. Lesley wanted to get some clothes ironed so I sat up on the pool deck in the sun from 10 to 12. Probably a bit too long to be honest. Plan was to only have alcohol at dinner this evening. However that only lasted until 1.30pm when we attended a wine & food pairing lecture. 5 wines, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir & a Cabernet Sauvignon with various dishes. See photo. Great experience and learnt again something new. Quick egg roll and then a snooze.
Went down to the Martini bar at 6.45 couple of Gins & Vodkas then up to Blu for dinner. Scallops to start with and with our newly acquired wine pairing skills we had Sauvignon Blanc, see Vivino review, great taste. Then based on Steven, our sommelier input a bottle of Zinfandel Great choice went well with Lesley’s pheasant but maybe a little too strong ? Again a few problems with service but discussed with Hugo, the restaurant manager. He promised a resolution. Had a vodka / gin tonic in the piano bar. Lesley got talking to a Portuguese couple so now we have drink opportunity. That’s all folks!!
