Stayed in townsville last night seems really nice city very chilled suburban feel. Fab seafront with a great tidal swimming pool which boys loved all very nicely done. Done a fair bit of driving. Beautiful scenery. It's amazing all the properties seem so well kept - in the middle of nowhere but immaculate. All the creeks are named too which is amazing as there are so many of them!! First blog from Oz on our first real holiday day here. Really heavy rain again last night scary!!! Carried on into this morning so we had a slow start. Made it to the beach this afternoon though. Fortunately they have a stinger net on mission beach so we could play in the sea safe from the box jellyfish which is reassuring. Finally wifi to do a blog entry!!! Not strictly in singapore but couldnt write before now!!! Wow what an amazing city. Really really loved it - very vibrant and sooo friendly the locals very fascinated by my blond haired blue eyed boys!!! We did quite a bit of walking around city along the river. Our hotel was perfectly situated on Clarke Quay right in amongst all the restaurants and bars. You could eat pretty much any cuisine you wished for Persion, Mongolia...

4 days to go - excitement and panic levels very high! Australia underwater it seems so slightly concerned about that but apparently it will all be fine!!!! As long as we can get into Brisbane airport and back out again and up to Cairns we should be ok as hopefully all the floodwaters will have receded by the time we need to travel down there. Time will tell I guess. We not changing plans at the moment - holding fire for a couple of days.
