I now know why Greg loved Thailand so much. Cheap name brand clothes, great food and ping pong shows. I gotta say the best of the three is certainly the food. So much flavor and if you like spice, it's even better. If you're ever in Thailand and you see an old woman with a bowl and a masher, stop and wait for a papaya salad...probably the beat food I've ever eaten.
My first night was pretty low key. I just went and tried some Thai food and then walked up and down a couple street markets. I bought a new pair of sandals and only realized after that the Birkenstocks I bought for a really good price said they were made in Germany...yeah right! The best part was probably walking down this one street with beautiful women and beautiful she-males. I wasn't tempted but it was fun having their pimps or promoters trying to lure me into their clubs.
The next few days in Bangkok, I stayed in a hostel along Khao San road which is the main touristy road. It was lots of fun. I made a few friends and hung out with them for a few days. I was lucky on the timing because one of the days I was there, it was the King's birthday so I went to a show in the park with lots of music, dancers and taekwondo. There was one singer who went up and all the girls and couple boys ran up as close to the stage as they could to get a glimpse of "Ice". He played about five songs so during one of the songs, I walled up to a group of girls and asked if I could borrow their Ice sign that was lit up like Light Bright. They agreed, I stop on a chair and within thirty seconds I was on the jumbotron. does that count ad being on TV because if yes, that would be my third country. Yeah! Other highlights included seeing many different Wats, the Standing and Reclining Buddhas, the Golden Mountain which has a great view of the city (kinda feels like a scene of The Hangover seeing the city from up there), a ping pong show, the various rides on the Tuk Tuks and going to see a Muay Thai fight.
