Honeymooners
Well it's official, we're PADI certified.
We were able to do four incredible dives in two days and then a fifth "fun" dive the morning of our third day. All were so amazing! We're expecting some pictures to come in from some friends that we took the certification with, as well as from our instructor so we'll post those as they come in as well. The Island has been incredible to say the least! A typical day for us is up early, around 7:30 off for breakfast and a dive, then a three hour break for lunch and a good laze in the sun. Out for another dive, a quick nap and freshening up, then to a wonderful little restaurant that we've been eating at everyday called Lily's. The food there is fantastic and for dinner they start serve up an amazing BBQ offering squid, prawns, blue marlin, chicken, tuna with a side dishes consisting of potatoes, salads, rice, and fresh fruits. All in all a great ending to a wonderful day. The locals are super friendly and very helpful. On our fourth and last day we did an all day snorkel tour. Between the diving and snorkelling we've seen turtles, sharks, jelly fish, nemo's (clown fish), eels, blue spotted rays, barracuda's and so much more. From talking with people they also say that the diving is fantastic in the Gili Islands so we're most likely going to be adding it to our places to see.
So after four solid days of the Perhentian Kecil Island we're off to Kuala Lumpur by a eight hour bus ride. We weren't expecting much but boy the buses sure are nice. Tons of leg room and the seats fully recline. Our intentions were to fly out right away and head to Indo, but as fate would have it the earliest plane ride that wasn't booked solid isn't for three days. Turned out to be a good thing as we both have enjoyed our time here so far. It gives us the opportunity to catch up on some laundry, sleep, blog writing and to see the sights in the capital of Malaysia. So far this city is a wonderful mixture of old and new. It's common to find little fruit stands with straw roofs in between two brightly painted modern buildings. The markets here have been fun as well, with the knock-off purses, watches, shoes and clothing. A great first day for us to practice our bargaining skills.
This week in Malaysia is the final week of the month long Ramadan so shops will be closing down tomorrow and apparently a big party will be starting up. Hopefully we'll get a chance to experience the culture chaos. We'll let you know how that goes.
We were looking to upload some pictures for your viewing, however, we have had some technical problems (Oleg, we'll be sending you a side email hoping that you might be able to help).
Well I think that says it all for us right now. Hopefully we'll be able to get some pictures up soon.
See you all later, miss you all lots.
And thanks to everyone for their emails and posts. It's great to hear from our family and friends as it make us feel a little closer to home.
Talk to you all again real soon.
