Hello, last update from Thailand! Yesterday was the Loy Krathong festival (full moon). We started our day very early (8am!) by watching a Buddhist Monk ceremony. It was quite interesting, especially when they were sat praying with bottles of Coca Cola and Fanta Orange in front of them, to be fair it was bloody hot! We even got blessed as part of the ceremony! Spent the rest of the day lazing around on the beach (it's a hard life). Deb then ventured for a massage after Sally (one of the masseurs) kept hassling us, but hey, she taught us how to say thank you very much in Thai, which is Ko Pong Kah (not sure if the spelling is right!). In the evening the festivities continued with a meal, a bartender show (which was a young girl who, bless her, kept dropping her bottles - very amusing), a thai boxing demo and then last but not least the best bit.....traditional thai dancing which consisted of 2 of the hotel workers with a few of the hotel guests parading around the restaurant, not sure we got the full authentic action! We should also mention, that the music in the interval, consisted of, Black Eyed Peas, Eminem and Coldplay - we enjoyed but quite funny when sitting at a Thai fesival - or is it just us? The evening ended with us trapsing down the road, first of all to the beach, but the waves were too big, and then to the lagoon, down the road (please imagine a long line of hotel guests walking around in the dark with a floating candle - but Deb and Ju aren't stupid, we took our beer with us!) We tried to light our candle for about 10 mins, but the wind was too strong, so we just lit the incense sticks, and set our float free on the lagoon, where they congregated with loads of other ones but didn't go anywhere (think they are supposed to go out to sea!). I know we have been very sarcastic but it is a big deal out here and to experience it was.....different Today we have done b***** all, so no more to say...other than the 'puters in Thailand are a bit slow, so can't be bothered to sit here for 4 hours loading on the extra pics, so we will probably do that when we get to Aus. Leaving here on Tuesday so will probably update you all again mid, to late next week Deb and Ju xx
