This entry should be from Hoi An - not Hanoi! whoops
Ok well I seem to have been a bit lame with the blogging and not actually bothered for 2 weeks, so ill try and make this speedy....
After Nha Trang we went to Hoi An which was just beautiful! Me and briony checke dinto a lovely hotel after our delightful night bus jounrey, had a further 3 hours sleep then got up at 9 ready for a day of shopping!! Spent 3 days in Hoi and and its definately one of my favourite places in Vietnam. The old town is full of 16th century wooden fronted shop houses and beautiful buildings, and hundreds of tailors shops all offering fantastic deals! Its an evil place...haha. While I was there I got a winter coat made (grey wool with turquise lining and bug duffel buttons hehe) and a couple of dresses which i think is pretty restrained actually considering how mad I could have gone! The tailors are fantastic, you can show them a picture of a dress you want, theyl measure you up then whip it up for you in a day - amazing! They have catalogues full of clothes they can copy, Id definately love to go back one day with a huge order of stuff! Im just sad mum I couldnt get you a coat made, you would have loved it!
Our other friends from Nha Trang were there too so we enjoyed some meals out and drinks in random local bars and the cheapest beer we have found in Vietnam at 4000 VND which is about 10p - wow!! Had some amazing spring rolls too....
As well as shopping me and Briony did some cultural stuff, saw the Japanese Bridge, an old Merchants House, various little photography and art galeries and the old Cantonese Assembly Hall. Hoi An is such a beautiful place we were quite content just wandering around and mooching about the shops, cafes and buildings and enjoying happy hour cocktails on the banks of the river. Its even more beautiful at night too when all the buildings along the river are lit up with colourful lanterns - just LOVED it there! Was sad to leave but also happy to be moving on, randomly bumped into Laura and Sam as I was jumping on my bus to Hue, they had just arrived from Nha Trang that morning - like ships passing!
