Billy and Bekah's Adventure!!
Top o' the Morning...
Well actually is afternoon here in Killarney. Yes--we were suppose to be in Dingle tonight according to the itinerary however plans have changed.
Here's a recap of where I left off!
In Doolin we had a yummy dinner at a local pub, we shared a seafood platter of some sort with crab claws, mussels, shrimp, and like 4 different fish....with brown bread and beer of course. Yummy! While we were finishing up there we met a man from california with his 3 daughters, all under 6. He was doing a family vacation, nice guy. we let him have our table while we went back to our site and hung out for a little bit because the music at pubs does not start till 930pm.
we went back to the bar around 10 to see the family still sitting and only standing room left in the pub. he saw us and told us he was about to leave so we traded spots once again and got a table right by the 'music' table....PERFECT!
Of course it started raining while we were out and our so called 'waterproof' tent was full of puddles. Yes, we slept in our little ford fiesta....comfy. It actually wasnt that bad, we made pillows and had our blankets so we were set.
The next morning we headed down to Dingle. It was one of the longer drives of the trip. I, of course, couldnt keep my eyes open on the long drive and poor Billy had to deal with the curving roads and small towns on his own. Occassionally waking me up making sure we were going the right direction. We made it there fine. Beautiful scenery....the Dingle Peninsula is full of mountains, WOW.
We found our hostel right away....not too great. Checked in, dropped off our clothes and we headed into Dingle.
It was a quaint little fishing village, actually touristy. We werent too impressed with the town, there had been so many people saying how great it was but sadly it wasnt what we were expecting.
We had a little picnic for lunch with fresh bread, cheese, butter, and apple juice....REALLY YUMMY! After our picnic we decided to go back to where our hostel was (about a 30 min drive). We hung out at the bar next door (Randy Leprachan) had a couple beers and some snacks and BAILEYS CHEESECAKE. So good!
The night was a restless one, the 'paddy tour' bus unloaded tons of young adults around 8pm. They were SCREAMING AND SINGING, completely wasted. Soooo horrible. We were ready to go sleep in the car. I guess we shouldnt have expected any less since we were in a YOUTH hostel but still, they didnt stop till 2 or 3 in the morning, insane.
So that made our decision easier to head to Killarney today and not stick around any longer. We packed up and headed out and got here around noon. This area is really pretty and we found a hotel on cheaptickets.com for tonight and we will be staying in our last hostel tomorrow night. The Ring of Kerry is here and a few other cool attractions like the Killarney National Park so we cant wait to start! We will be hopefully meeting up with our friend Kelly from rockledge around here soon, that will be fun seeing some familiar faces!
Well we miss everyone tons and love all the notes from back home! Love you guys!
