Bikepacker's South American Adventure
After some scrambling to find someone with a wrench so that I could take the wheel off my bike, I made it onto a bus back to Montevideo. Yup, it is way faster by bus than on bike! It was pretty much a travel or prepare for travel day, so nothing too exciting to say. Well, except for the titillating store names. I bought some groceries at Ta Ta, then looked at some clothes in a store called t***. When I went by a development called a Strip Center I had to wonder if these were just bad translations or if they really just had fun with the names! I did have time for some last minute walking around town which was lovely. Overall, Uruguay has been very pleasant and relaxing. Things I will miss - the absolute kindness of Uruguayans, iced cappuccinos with real ice cream, sound of waves against the shore, toilet seats that people do NOT pee on, polite people and did I mentio n the kindness of Uruguayans? Things I will not miss - the sound of sniffling. Appparently tissues are not in style here. Loud, lover's spats at 2 am. Would I come back again? Absolutely, but next time I would bring a bike with granny gears. 😊 Onwards and upwards... next stop is Quito for a day and then onto the Galapagos Islands...
