Vang Vieng is an interesting place designed around the tourist industry. Peple come here to tube, which is exactly what i did. You hire a large inflatabel tyre and float down a section of the mekong river in it, stopping to drink at the numerous bars along the way. Everything gets very wet, and the bartenders are used to exchanging dripping wet money for buckets of drink (how it is customarily served). Many of the bars have big swings and one has a massive slide that proppels you very high in the air and was great fun! There is no concept of health and safety and the general consensus seems to be the messier the better! I did two days and it was great! Got a great group and a marker pen and the fun began! One bar involved a lot of swinging and sliding, one bar a mud pit, one bar had baby chicks which were immensely fun to play with! The rings make it back to town around 7pm and the drinking continues there for those that managed to not drop their money in the river! Had a really fun time here but its time for me to leave so packing my bags and heading to the capital of laos this afternoon, Vientiene.
