So its been a good week since we've been in touch, and now were in a completely different country, Laos!Â
After sunning ourselves in Koh Tao we decided to move further up into the north of thailand and see some sights. We got a ferry over to Chumpon, and took an overnight bus from there to Bangkok,we got in at 5 o'çlock in the morning and wandered around like zombies for a while until we found a guest house that wouldn't charge us for both nights! Our two days in Bangkok were pretty uneventful, we'd done it before so we were pretty eager to move on. We still managed to make it to the weekend bazaar to do a bit of shopping though! there were selling dogs, snakes and even flying foxes. It was so sad because they were all so hot and thirsty, a lot of them were too young, we wanted to rescue them all. We also had time to catch the new Spiderman movie VIP style, in big reclining leather chairs, they did table service too it was so fun.
We caught the train up to Chang Mai the next evening, and booked ourselves onto a three day trek in the jungle around Pai. We did so much in those three days we were so worn out and mozzy bitten by the end of it! We stayed in local villages both nights, did a lot of walking, bathed in really cool waterfalls, rode on elephants and did some bamboo rafting. It was really nice to live like the local people for a while it made us feel so lucky, and all the children were so inquisitve and cute, it was a really great experience. For two days after that we recovered in the city while we waited for our visas.
We arrived in luang Prabang early this evening by slow boat. Very slow boat, its taken two days to get here from chang Mai, with an overnight stop over in a village called Pat bang, the electricity in the whole village cuts out at 10.30pm and our guesthouse was like something out of a scary movie. It cost us about 60p to stay there for the night though so we couldnt complain. Anyway off to explore this place now, so far so good its really pretty. Probably do some caving tomorrow and visit a few waterfalls. Catch you soon, Lots of Love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
