Tuesday 23rd
After a relaxing day around the pool on Monday we decided to venture out later that night and just wander around and find some where for dinner, we are situated on a promenade called The Walk, which runs along side the ocean, and the choice of food was numerous, we finally decided on an Indian curry restaurant, and the food was magnificent.
Tuesday was the day I had arranged to have high tea at the Burj al Arab (the one that is shaped like the sails of a boat) and after the hotel driver took us to the incorrect place we finally made it
This place is awesome and is supposedly the only rated 7 star hotel in the world, the carpet in the foyer, you literally feel as though you are walking on air, then you look up at this enormous water feature and on both sides of the walls are the top to floor aquarium, you are directed up the escalators and check in to reception, then put in a glass lift to the 27th floor, awesome views on the way up, you are met as the door opens up and escorted to your table and then served with a glass of champagne and dates that are filled with cheese and nuts, then the food begins, a mixed berry shortcake, then a warm beef dish, then you decide if you want tea or coffee, Chrissy had coffee, I had a sweet honeybush tea, a plate of assorted sandwiches, then came the scones, pastries and creme brulee with a slice of fruit cake, yep, by this time we were really struggling, and lastly a rose petal sorbert.
We tried to take our time with each course but eventually we were beat
Two and half hours later we finally left the building, an experience I will never forget,
Catching a taxi we then went over to the Dubai Mall, this is known to be the Worlds largest shopping mall with over 1200 shops, and it is definately shopping overload, and is also the home of the Dubai aquarium, with 3 of its walls, top to bottom with the most amazing aquarium display I have ever seen, I believe it holds over 10million litres of water and is one of the largest suspended water tanks in the world holding thousands of aquatic species, walking around for a couple of hours we had had enough and took another taxi back to the hotel, no dinner tonight as the thought of more food was just to much
Wednesday
Our last day in Dubai and once again we spent the whole day around the pool just relaxing, staying until we saw the sun go down over the ocean,
Then it was out for a last walk and dinner, we had both been looking at a restaurant called The Cheesecake Factory, and as we were not hungry we thought a slice of cheesecake would do just fine, well what a surprise when we walked in to this over the top eatery, and a very extensive menu, we finally settled on stuffed mushrooms, crumbed zucchini and chicken samosa's, just divine, but our mission was the cheesecakes and what a decision to make, Chrissy decided on a Raspberry Mousse Cheesecake and I a Lime Mango Cheesecake, beautiful. But I will admit, I couldn't eat it all, very sweet and rich.
A short walk after and back to the hotel to finish packing, an early night as we are being picked up at 6.30am For the airport.
