Once again up early, just to finish packing and to make sure that the apartment was left as clean as when we arrived, finally saying goodbye early morning and catching a taxi to the airport, we both loved Barcelona and only wish we had more time to do the sightseeing properly, but the main reason for this stop over was to catch up with Carolyn, Sheree and to celebrate Tania's 60th birthday, it was great to see them, have a few laughs, talk about old times and have some great meals.
flight to Rome was very short only about 90 minutes and then off to pick up our bags, and to catch the shuttle bus to the main central station, and that is when nearly all hell broke loose, although Chrissy had all the directions as to what train to take, we couldn't work out how to buy the tickets, and these dodgy people would just appear next to you asking if you needed help, you knew they were not the real deal station staff, finally we got in line for information and were advised that to buy the tickets for the line we needed we had to go outside the station, out we go and eventually spotted a small building in the middle of the car park and headed for there, by this time we were both ready to scream, cry or what ever it took, but yep this is where you can buy the tickets, doesn't make sense, We must be missing something. (PS: since found out we were on the wrong level of the station, surely if a sign says tickets you would think you would just follow the signs and find the little ticket man)
Getting underground is a shock to the senses, it really stinks, although the station we alighted from was OK, then it was to find our hotel, thankfully a young guy pointed us in the right direction, finally booking into the hotel.
End of our day and tonight we are not going anywhere, even having dinner at the hotel
Tomorrow is another day and a full couple of days sight seeing.
