The day started at 4am. Dressed and packed we headed to the reception to check out; this led to an argument with the staff regarding payments and bills. At a "5 star" hotel you would hope they knew what they where doing. In our experience we've had no issues with hostels or lower star rated hotels, like we have with 5 star places.
Jumping into a taxi we drove through the sleeping streets of Beijing. Arriving at the airport in no time we paid and tipped our driver. Picking up our bag we got it ready to make the journey. Through security which was extra tight due to the parade we arrived at our gate ready to board. We had booked to sit in the beat seats at the back of the plane that gives us extra room. Next stop Dubai.
During the flight we flew over the Great Wall of China. We where also treated to a perfect view of the Himalayas. We arrived at Dubai and got dejavue. With 3 hours to kill, Beverley went to look around the shops while I caught up with what's going on at home. We boarded our next flight and took off. Next stop... Glasgow.
Landing in Scotland we grabbed our things and caught the bus to Glasgow central station. Just to recap (for those in the back); we have dramatically changed our travel plans and cut it short by a week.
But our journey doesn't end there. We caught the Sleeper Train to London Euston. Siting in the cheaper seats we started to hear we where going to be moved due to the toilets of our carriage being out of order. After 2 stops the kind staff of the train escorted us to a carriage with bed compartments (upgrade). The train had 2 extra carriages added and we where on our way. Next stop... London.
