Today, we woke up at 06:00. We got to breakfast around 07:00 and were on the bus before 08:00. We drove to the airport to pickup the Arizona kids. On the way, we passed Fenway Park, home of the Green Monster. We also got to know our bus driver, Mike, who likes the Vermont Sea Monsters. We got to the airport and picked up the rest of our group. First, we went to Boston Common. We were enriched with local history as we marveled at the surroundings. It is weird to think that they have a communal garden because Bostonians do not have their own yards. We saw statues and the Cheers bar. Then, we went to Boston Garden. My favorite part was watching the ducks in the pond. Next, we went down Commonwealth Avenue. We saw statues of famous Bostonians. We moved on to Copley Square. The Trinity Church was beautiful and striking. The contrast with the John Hancock building was amazing and I think it added to both buildings. Perhaps my favorite thing was the Boston Library. It was so beautiful and intricate. It was so different than any library we have in Oklahoma. After the library, we went to the Prudential Building to eat lunch. After lunch, we wandered around the mall and relaxed. We left the mall around 14:30. Our group went to Copp's Burial Ground. I thought the skulls and wings on the graves were interesting because they are so much different from graves today. One thing that struck me was the number of young children buried there. It says as lot about the quality of medicine back then and his different it is from today. It was humbling. After the graveyard, we went into Little Italy. We learned about and got to observe the culture of the area. We went to a souvenir shop. I bought a T-Shirt and a golf ball. Then, we went to Mike's Pastries. The cannoli was AMAZING. After Mike's, we went to Quincy Market for dinner. There were so many food places and shops and people and just so much activity. We don't really have anything like that at home. After Quincy Market, we went back to the hotel. It was a good day.
