Arrived in Sydney late on friday so had an early night. On the saturday we went to the Sydney Tower observation deck which is REALLY high up but had wonderfull views of the whole area and out to the blue mountains. We then went on a virtual ride called Oz Trek which showed you all the highlights of Australia. We then walked throught the main shopping area and had some lunch in Hyde Park looking at the fountain with St Marys Catherdral in the background. Was lovely and sunny too. We then walked along Macquarie St and saw the Parliament house, the State Library, Sydney museum, the Mint other old buildings. We then arrived at circular Quay and saw the opera house and the harbour bridge. Was really impressive and special, couldnt believe we were actually there!!! Then walked aroubd the opera house before heading over the The Rocks area which is home to a really good market and the oldest cottage in sydney and some good pubs...! The views are so lovely being centred all round water. After a long day walking we headed back through the Botanical gardens and went out in the evening. It was free champers at the bar next door and then onto Side bar which was a good laugh.
The next day we went over to Bondi Beach but unfortunately it rained when we got there!!!! How annoying, bought the english weather with us i think!! Headed back to the city and went to the aquariam. Was brill we even found nemo and his dad and mum!!! Lovelly fish in there so many bright colours..but also very huge and scary sharks that swim over you head along with turtles and HUGE stigrays and a crocadile for good measure! Also saw more little penguins which i will never tire of.
On the Monday we booked a tour and went out to the blue mountains. On the way we stopped at a wildlife park and got to stroke a koala and feed the kangeroos and wallabees! Also visted the sydney oylmpic park and the town of Kamtooba for lunch...think thats right?! Saw some amazing lookouts of the mountains, one is bigger than ayres rock. Saw the famous three sisters rock formation and walked down the great staircase into one of the sisters. The went on a skyway cable car to see the waterfull, as you are moving the floor disappears so u feel like you are walking on air! We then descended into the rainforest on the steepest railway in the world, was brill! Walked along the broadwalk through the rainforest before heading back on the senic cable car whick had spetacular views of the three sisters and the mountains. Was really good day out. In the eve we walked down to the habour had enjoyed a bottle of wine at the Opera bar overlooking the harbour bridge and the opera house.
On the tues we look a boat out to Manly beach and relaxed there for the day. Beach here nicer than Bondi we thought. In the eve we went down to Darling harbour where there are lovely restaurants and bars. Went to Cargo bar which was very funky before going out in the city and getting home at 5am!!
On wed 10th we went to Hyde park and relaxed and looked around the shops. Also booked all the rest of our trips and accomadtion up which took ages! But really glad it is all sorted. Loved sydney but time to move on.....
