We left Laggan and headed to Glasgow. This was a day trip with lots to see. First we called into the Royal Commandos' Memorial overlooking Ben Nevis then we went to the Ben Nevis Whiskey Distillery outside Fort William for a tour and a wee dram (plus acquisitions of course).
We then drove through beautiful mountainous national park areas - heather covered hills, waterfalls, old estate homes and obviously a mecca for hikers and walkers.
Lunch was at the Drovers Inn at Inverarnan built in 1705 - 23 years before Capt James Cook was even born! This was the local drinking hole for the infamous Rob Roy. The Inn sits close to Loch Lomond and the caves used by Rob Roy for hiding from his English pursuers
are marked around the lake.
After a lunch of Scotch Broth and sandwiches we took a cruise along Loch Lomond - and the banks are bonney! After the cruise we headed for our destination the - Jury Inn at Glasgow.
A special treat was dinner at the 5-star Corinthian Club. Built by David Hamilton in 1842 on the site of the 18th century Virginia Mansion, the Corinthian Club is one of Glasgow's most elaborate and richly decorated buildings both internally and externally. It originally housed the Glasgow Ship Bank which was extended and embellished with superb sculptures and decorative features added by highly acclaimed architects, artists and artisans including James Salmon (Snr), John Thomas and James Ballantine.
