We had booked up a rock climbing excursion the day before and also to get us to our next destination, Vientiane, the capital of Laos, a 3hr kayaking trip that takes you half way, then a bus for the rest of the way. So an activity packed next few days. We had a good day ahead of us... rock climbing till the afternoon.... then..... TUBING WHHHHOOOHH!!!! We got to the rock formation where we'd be climbing for a good few hours, I personally was so exited to try it out my knees were actually trembling a little. We had a group of four people and there were quite a few others already there so as none of us had any climbing experience we started on the easy top rope. Everyone got a good feel for the climbs and we carried on to next, each one getting a little harder. For me it was a massive adrenaline rush and i one of the best experiences travelling because I had a feeling I was going to excel at it. I climbed all of the five top ropes available to climb in that area, the hardest a 20m drop, and I can definitely say that I've never in my life used my arms so much. After absailing down my arms were throbbing so much they looked like Popeyes arms, it didn't feel very comfortable at all. But we'll definitely be doing some more climbing in the future, I've definitely found a new hobby! After all the action from the climbing it was time or what should have been a massive bender, floating down the river on a huge tractors inner tube and getting pulled in by a rope to all the rowdy bars (TUBING) but unfortunately it has been stopped due to some unfortunate incidents. Seeing all of the deserted bars that just a few months ago would've been heaving with revellers, was a sad site but speaking with the locals, they seemed to be happy that it was no more because now they have there town back from the thousands of tourist that visited. But we still made the very most of the hour and a half it took to get to the bottom with a bag of beers for trip. After a full day of activities I well and truly ready for a nice chill so got some street food and headed back to the bungalow. By now we was definitely feeling the side effects of the malaria pills which were making us a lot more hydrated than usual, so we're drinking a lot more water which means more frequent visit to the toilet. Apparently they make your skin a lot more sensitive to the sun too so will be looking forward to getting a very good tan, which we would is a good side effect!
