So i'll carry on from Chiang Mai, so the night of Tiger Temple we ate at the worst resturant, The food was awful, the live music was awful, it was full of middle aged men with Thai women, women used losely, as many of them weren't, so we ate and left. We wandered around the night market which was HUGE, bought some undescript meat on a stick, dumplings and waffles to make up for the poor dinner we had. The following day was adventure trekking. We had to sneak out of our guesthouse as we didn't want them to get angry that we booked it with someone else. So after a long, cramped tuk tuk ride we arrived at the elephant camp. The elephants were such beautiful animals, we were first onto the elephants and off we went. It plodded along at its own pace with us on the back and the guide sat on its head. We were on the elephants for about 45mins. The elephant literally ate anything it could get its trunk too, it even started to scale a wall so it could get some type of leaf, which was a little scary for us sat on the back. Also before you ask, I think the elephants were treated well, they looked very well fed and the trainers seemed care about them, although they did carry a hook that looked a little threatening. After riding the elephants ans sitting on its neck, we had some lunch to refil before our hour trek up to a waterfall. I dont understand why we were trekking at mid day as it was so hot...i have never sweated as much as i did on this walk. The trek was amazing though, the guide showed us different creatures, thank god no snakes. He climbed a tree for some fruit that we later ate. We climbed over rocks, balanced across little bridges, walked through the river, walked along little ledges and all the time mesmerised by the beautiful scenery around us. After a long and sweaty walk we reached the waterfall, which was spectacular. We stripped down and got under, it was so cool and freshing and so amazing to be under a natural waterfall. We headed back down to camp and it was time for whitewater rafting. Well it was some rapids and alot of still water. During the day we made friends with two older candians couples who were absouletly hilarious. So we got in the raft with them, as they were apparently experienced, men in the front, me and Jess in the middle and the women at the back. I'm not too sure how experienced they really were. The men were all about the paddling, the women were just laughing in the back and we hit a bad rapid and me and the lady behind cracked heads, she lost her paddle and she nearly fell in. At the time i felt sorry for her but secretly i was laughing. I cannot wait now to hit real rapids in New Zealand. The next adventure was Bamboo wafting which was shocking rubbish, the rafts didnt sit on the water and slightly sank and the rocked alot aswell, then we run aground. So I was quite glad when this was over. We were taken to a small town where the people had orginated from Tibet or of Tibetian decent. This village reminded me about how lucky i am and how modern my life is, also the old lady at one of the stalls guilted me into buying another braclet. That evening we were hungry, tired and in need of a boozy beverage. So we found one of the first resturants we came too, MEXICAN!! We filled our faces with chimichanga, loaded skins, enchilada and wine, then it was straight to sleep.
The following day was our last day in Chiang Mai. I have really fallen in love with Chiang Mai, its pace is so much slower than Bangkok, its pictureque, i feel like there is alot of history here and its cheap. We checked out of our guesthouse and our plan was to go to Doi Suttep and the Zoo, we never manged to go to the Zoo but we did get to Doi Sutthep. We had to get two truck trucks there as it was on top of a rather large mountain/ hill. The views though was beautiful and so was the temple, after we walked the thousands of steps that we had to climb, them stair are definately not for the unfit...so don't ask me why i tried. So once we reached the top and i was well and truely hot and sweaty, We took in the beautiful views, looked around the temple (think i've seen enough to last me a life time) rang the bells, took in the beautiful architecture and took too many photos we headed back down the mamouth amount of steps and headed back to catch our 12 hour coach back to Bangkok.
We arrived in Bangkok after an pain free journey at 6am, we set up home in the Macaroni club and waited till we could head to the airport. We also picked up the money that Jess got from Sammy 'our' tour agent who sold her suitcase for us. Don't worry Dad mine is being shipped home. We caught our flight to Phuket and arrived at the airport about 4pm, jumped in a airport shuttle that unsuprisingly stopped and tried to sell us stuff. We finally arrived at about 6pm on the 17th at the Sea blue guest house which is in the uber touristy part of Pjuket called Patong, which was very nice; Huge room, big comfy bed each and airconned. On our 1st night in Phuket we headed out for a wander to get our bearings and see where we were. We ended up being only a 5 min walk from the main strip. that night we had the of the BEST meals of the trip, we were able to pick out two massive tiger prawns then had them cooked in white wine and garlic sauce. The following day we had a well deserved day of beach fun times, we paid a 100THB for a sunbed,.. and dipped in and out of the sea....i as always was a little to cocky with the sun cream and burnt myself silly...SHOCK! Phuket i should mention is probally the most expensive we have been to so far so our daily budget didn't go to far this day. Tonight was our big night out, we had a bar crawl along the strip which led us to many a drink, none being the same, so drunk Ben and Jess were very quickly out and about. We had cocktails, gin, rum and wine....you can see where this is going. Our bar crawl led us to a the Paradise complex also known as GAY TOWN!!! We arrived in the area to street show of Ciera, or a ladyboy dressed as Ciera anyway. Which led to a caberat inside Kiss bar. We had more drinks and watched the delights of many a ladyboy lip syncing to gay classics while young gay boys pranced around them doing routines. This wasn't the only one we watched that night, we ended up at 2am at another in Boat Bar, where Jess, the only real female and I made friends, had more gin, wine and beer and danced around till 4am, when we decided it was time for BED!!!
The following day we did not feel well....it was BAD!!! Although we maned up and heading for the beach via McDonalds. I found a lovely comfy sun lounger in the shade and that was where i rotted for the day. That evening we opted for some lovely carby, stuffed crusted pizza to heal my much hungover wounds.
I will finish this later on
