Heeeeeeey! So i'm sat at a computer in an little internet cafe in nairobi, right next to our hotel (Sandton Palace).
I arrived at around 3:30am your time (6:30am here) and had a lift to the hotel. Had heaps of advice from my transporter who was wicked ;)
I've been here for just half a day and I already feel almost settled in. The city is definately franetic but it's amazing how the Kenyan's attitude to time is so layed back! Everything is done with a kind of 'calm urgency' - everyone has time to exchange words with whoever.
I've met up with, and am sharing a room with a canadian guy who's on the same project as me. During our orientation to the the city we made good friends with our guide and went into a local bar to play pool - completely different to how we work it all out - here... the loser pays! it's brilliant! The winner stays on, while the waiter pays for the table and takes note of every game you lose which gets added to your individual bill. It means you end up playing with the whole bar and get talking to them. :D Pretty 'ledge'... in a word.
I have one night at the hotel tonight, and then we set off to Nakuru (3 hour journey) at 10am tomorro morning. Apparently it's a really nice journey going right through the middle of the rift valley!
Oh and 'Tusker' beer rules!
Over and out
xXx
