The resort we moved to 8 days ago was really great, and the staff were really nice. Had a really relaxing few days, though renting a scooter for a couple of days kept us entertained. We 'ran' around the coast and went to see a waterfall that wasn't too far away which was beautiful. Other than that though, the place was pretty boring, and not many people around.
After 3 nights we were ready to move on, and headed down the coast to Haad Rin, the party region. Our new place is really cool also, and very busy. Full of travellers, largely from Australia and Israel! Met some really cool Aussie guys whilst we were throwing the rugby ball around on the beach, and have spent a fair bit of time with them.
After a couple of days mainly sunbathing on the beach, or playing football/volleyball against the locals, yesterday we organised some activities. Firstly, we got up early and went on a day trip to the nearby Angthong National Marine Park. An early start, but very much worth it... Early morning snorkelling, followed by a hike to the 'Emerald Lake' had some amazing views. Got some great pics (Would have been more had the underwater camera we bought actually worked!). After a nice buffet lunch and a couple of hours of kayaking and swimming we headed back to Koh Phangan, pretty exhausted!
After a brief nap we went to watch some Muay Thai Boxing in the evening. This was a real cultural experience, where fighters as young as 6/7 enter the ring and 'kick/punch/elbow/knee 7 shades out of each other'! Will try and upload a video on to here. We had ringside seats for 500 Baht (about £8). There was a fair amount of blood from people being kicked in the face, and even one of the little 7 year olds had a shiner of a black eye! There was one English guy fighting who owns a gym out here and he won his fight. Was pretty impressive. In the final 'showcase' fight the Southern champion knocked out his opponent in the 2nd round. Was an awesome kick to the temple which had the guy unconscious for about a minute. That was our cue to leave!
Full Moon party is tonight, and then we move on to Koh Samui on Thursday. Looking forward to another change. Hopefully, we will be able to get across to the other side of Thailand for a couple of days also, before heading through Malaysia to Singapore on our 44 hours of train journey! That's all for now though...
Love Ben and Sam. x
