Hi guys we've been in Kuala Lumpur for 4 nights and arrived in Brunei yesterday so here's what we've been up to.
We arrived in KL on 12 Feb after a 6 hour bus journey from Penang. The scenery was beautiful on the way to KL, very lush and tropical and we saw rain for the first time since Hong Kong. We loved KL from the minute we arrived. It is a really big, modern city and the hostel we stayed in was right in the centre of things and close to loads of shopping malls!
KL is basically a city of shopping and eating. There are loads of huge shopping malls each with a hawker centre (food court) in the basement. On our first night we ate a Malay dish of chicken and rice which is delicious. Then we found Times Square mall which has a roller coaster, a cinema with the worlds biggest screens and tenpin bowling so we decided to go bowling which I was great at - not!
On our first day in KL it was 35 degrees, so really hot and humid. We got up early to get tickets to walk across the sky bridge of Petronas Towers (tallest twin buildings in the world). The sky bridge is on the 41st floor and the lift that takes you up there is a high speed one which goes up 1 floor per second. The sky bridge is basically a glass tunnel which you walk through and is really high up so I was pretty scared walking along it!
Next we looked around the mall in the towers which had some of the best shopping you've ever seen! Then we went to KL Tower (4th tallest tower in the world) and went up to the observation deck 276 metres above ground level. We saw some amazing views of KL from here including the forest reserve right in the middle of the city. After that we visited china town and saw some temples and markets.
The following day we hired a taxi to take us to some sights around KL as the monorail and buses only really take you around the actual city. We saw the Palace, the bird park, the old KL train station which is a really beautiful building, the National museum and central market which is a local arts and crafts centre. On our last day in KL we visited the aquarium where we saw some huge fish, rays and sharks and did some shopping at the malls for my birthday!
