How time flies. A week ago we were listening to speeches from our chief bridesmaid and best-man about Leanne's accident prone history, and my apparent love of millionaires shortbread, before the amazing Paul Dobie absolutely rocked our wedding dance floor. Today we landed safely in Nairobi to start our epic journey, despite a few hiccups along the way. Thinking back, the idea to bring an 8 month supply of contact lenses with me was probably not the most sensible or well planned decision I've ever made, but after a chat with senior security figures at Manchester Airport, they managed to wave me through 'on a technicality' despite the excessive liquid content......praise the Lord for the term 'medical prescription'!
It also appears that paying for visas on arrival with US dollars 'pre-2000' is also a big no-no, but after thumbing through all our money in full view of the airport queue, we managed to find some acceptable currency for the Kenyan officials to let us in to their country......Lets hope payments become easier as we go.
We arrived at the airport to the sight of Air Force One on the Tarmac. So nice of Barak to welcome us at the start of our honeymoon, although the idea of getting the zoom lens out as we stepped off the plane to get a closer look was tempting, the prospect of the consequences prevented me. With all this excitement, and a lot of road closures in place due to his arrival, we've finally arrived at our base for the night. Just in time for a well earned beer before heading out to the 'The Mara' tomorrow, and the promise of The Great Migration!
Until next time.

Paul H Sounds an 'interesting' start to your adventure! Great way though to start with a Tusker or two! Enjoy!
