Up at 7 start the day with a cold shower in Fluelen Swizterland, as there is no hot water. Not the best way to start a day, but 30 minutes later the stunning scenary washed away the memories of the cold shower. Set off at 9 to start the day with 2 passes - the Sustenpass (2224m), and the Grimselpass (2165m), through the heart of Alpine Switzerland. With snow still on the top of the Sustenpass.
Coffee stop at the bottom of the Sustenpass before up and over the Grimselpass. A short stop at the bottom of the Grimselpass while the boys went up the Furkapass, without the load of paniers and pillions we didnt have to wait long. Couldn't wipe the smile of Davids face (John W very impressed what the GS can do on twisties :-),). Amazing views, lots of James Bond tunnels and great roads running alongside of the mountain.
Short ride at 150kms along the Autobahn to get to the lunch stop at Brig, running short on Francs so we stopped at the servo where the food was cheaper. Not your average servo as could order beer on tap or have a bottle of wine. Back on the bikes to get to France for dinner. One last short pass the Col de Forclaz just before entering France. Cross the border into France and arrive at Chamonix. The Tour de France will pass through Friday so we have a late start and then head to Albertville. The evening spent at a quite unusual bar, see the photos, beds in the bar and lost of sheepskin. We left to have a French hotdog for dinner at a different bar, sausage with pulled pork and salad and a turkey one which happenned to be vegetarian :-).
