So a bit of a quick update as I missed loads out of the last san pedro update! i did write it all yesterday and then it timed out. not impressed!
Anyway the best thing i missed out was my salsa lesson. there was 8 of us and 1 teacher, a guy who also is a teacher at our spanish school so i had already seen him around and spoken to him a few times. his name is Elijio. We began salsa at 6om and it lasted for an hour and half. i danced pretty much solidly through this time, as Elijio seemed to spend all of his time dancing with me. we learnt the basic steps then got into partners and danced them together. i was with a guy named Dallas from Oz but he kept getting it wrong hence why Elijio kept taking me and teaching me new things instead of Dallas! I mustve danced with him for an hour out of the lesson! he knew i was picking it up and when i struggled with the spins he took the piss and we had a laugh with it. Dallas tried his best!
After salsa we went to dinner and then buddah bar after. was a pretty good night. Elijio was at buddah bar so we ended up dancing to the live music together.
Friday was my last spanish lesson with Fransisco. I have really hit my stride and can have good conversations in spanish now so was gutted to leave. Fransisco has enjoyed teaching me cus we get on so well and have a giggle with it, that he was sad to say bye. we had a sad farewell then arranged to meet up later with all our mates for drinks even though he dont drink. I have promised i will go back and have more spanish lessons from him.
So packed and had our final meal at d'noz where we invited Alex, the chefs and Randy to join us for the night out. Randy had just been chucked out of our hostel where he also worked and was really quite shocked. we had a few drinks and began our night at buddah bar. Elijio was there again and Fransisco so had lots of spanish. actually loved the night out. all the guys from dnoz turned up later and there was a lot of people we knew there. Dallas was having an after party at his rented apartment. by this point i was very merry after having too many cubas and shots! Elijio offered to give me a lift there on the back of his motorbike which was the first time id ever been on a bike but we arrived so much earlier than everyone else because of that! i quite enjoyed it! we danced the night away again with our amazing salsa. He gave me a ride back to my hostel which was kind of him so got back safely.
Woke up with a bit of a heavy head the next morning. We decided we would stay another night at zoola so at 10:15 i went to pay for another and was told someone else was waiting for our room so we had to leave. nice! so we quickly showered and decided to run for the bus leaving at 11. Typical no tuk tuks around so had to walk ages to find one and by this point it was 11 and i hoped the bus was running on Guate time which is late! We got there at 10 past and yes bus was still sat there luckily. it left 10mins later.
Journey took 3 hours which was quick, but with a bad hangover it was hellish becuase there were a lot of blind corners in the mountains which meant they sounded the horns. if you have ever seen a chicken bus you will have heard it first. the horns can be heard for miles. so you can imagine with them constantly sounding the horn for a minute at a time, it was a long journey! but we made it to Xela safely.
We chilled and met up with Winston again whose been here a week already. We arraned to go for an Indian at a recommended place. It was nice and he bought someone from his hostel with him. Me and Kerry came back and had an early night as still felt rough!
Dorm of 12 had only 1 bed free and it was a horrible night. I barely slept and one old moany woman snored so loud all night, one guy sounded like he was chewing and someone else was snoring but quieter so all in all had no sleep. i had to put on my ipod loud in my ears to drown out the snoring but this also prevented me from sleeping well.
Today the plan is to have some breakfast and go to Fuentas Georginas which is in the mountains and near volcanoes and it is natural hot springs. its quite pricey but we will stay overnight so it will be an experiece as the only have electric light between 5-10pm so no other electric im guessing!
Will post pix of it all tomorrow.
Happy birthday mum. will speak to you soon
