Hi Guys!!!
Well, where do we start...We left for our flight over 4 hours in advance and got caught in the traffic for that massive 7 car pile up on the M23 for over 2 hours after they shut the motorway. - We checked in at 10am and our flight was due to leave at 11am...they said we just made it but couldn't sit together so they upgraded us to seats with extra legroom as a bonus!
Finally we made it to hot, humid Singapore, where we found transportation was easy and dirt cheap but we couldn't check in our hostel til 1pm, so we thought we'd explore!!
Our first mission was to test the tubes out which Steve mastered very quickly whereas Becs was just useless! We ate noodles at a shopping mall and then thought we'd be adventurous and have a fish spa treatment......so we dipped our feet into fish infested waters where they ate our dead skin for ten minutes!!! Felt totally strange and our feet were buzzing!! is it normal to enjoy this experience?!!
We then ventured out to the Singapore Flyer which is the world's highest big wheel and thanks to Bec's work, we got on it for free! This had fantastic views of Singapore and the harbour.
After feeling pretty exhausted by this time, we headed back to our hostel for some much needed kip and a shower!!
We have just come back now from the Night Safari at Singapore Zoo which was a unique experience, which was also free for us thanks to Becs work. We saw Rhino's, Tigers, Girraffes, elephants, hyenas and loads of amazing animals. - We then ventured into the flying squirrel pen where we just stood amongst the trees until out of nowhere, a big fat squirrel came hurtling down from the darkness, missing our heads by just a few feet! Bec's then wanted to evacuate the area in a hurry, freaking out that it might land on her head and ruin her hair.
Now we're gonna sleep loads and have as big fat fry up in the morning, or the Singapore equivalent....RICE!! - Our hostel is very clean, people friendly, with free internet and breakfast....what more can you ask for!
Chat soon, probably in a couple of days once we've settled into Airlie Beach. We'll post photos when we get time!
