Apoligies for not updating my blog sooner - spent last week at Narrabean campsite and didnt do very much! My memory isnt very good either, always forget what we've done! Should have mentioned in my last blog that we went to Palm beach for the day where Home and Away is filmed. No filming going on that day and the place was so quiet. In the end it was far too windy to lie on the beach. Was nice to see though!
So i eventually recovered from my labrynthitis, its not good being unwell when you dont have a proper bed!! Didnt really do much in that last week, just went to the mall, cinema again and out for tea to the Newport Arms, has the biggest beer garden ive ever seen. It was lovely to sit out in and the food was lovely - had some flat fish and a few bottles of cider.
I was hanging my washing out one day and the campsite and this spanish women said, hello, cant speak english, can you tell me what this is - and pointed at a fitted bed sheet so i told her it was a fitted sheet and she repeated it in the dodgiest weegie accent - sounded like futted sheet. I couldnt help but laugh when she said it, the ozzies had no chance of understanding what she was on about!!! I avoided her for the rest of my stay.
By the thursday i was feelin much better and didnt feel dizzy at all, it was a lovely day so me. Jill and Stef decided to relive our youth and do cartwheels, handstands and crabs, well as soon as i went upside down - that was me dizzy for the next two days! Im not getting any younger :( I managed 3 weeks without seeing any big snakes or spiders, but when nicola was takin her tent down the biggest spider was underneath, we made such a scene, everyone ran across and some ozzie told us it was a huntsman!! i took a pic - but from a great distance and zoomed in!! I also saw a possum one night, thought it was an oversized rat at firs. It climbed up the tree next to a bench where a guy was sitting - ive never seen a man move so fast in my life when he saw it!!
We arrived in Sydney yesterday, staying at a hostel called the west end back packers, which is in the area were there are alot of asian people and thai restaurants everywhere. I dont think i met a proper australian until today! yesterday was our Neighbours xmas party with some of the cast...well unemployed ex cast members - Irish conner, janelle timmons, Marco Silvani, and Declan someone. Had a great chat with irish conner, who is actually from ireland, i thought he just had a dodgy accent on the show. I asked him why he wasnt drinking, but he had to drive to the airport so i asked him if he got free drink and he did so i offered to take the free drink from him, he just laughed and said he always liked the cheeky ones!! Never did get the free drink. They had a trivia quiz aswell, we called ourselves the haggis hunters and we actually managed to come 4th outta loads of people - they all had huge groups so i think we did quite well! Got speaking to a group of irish guys at the next table, they were wanting to share answers so we could split the prize - there was loads of them so we wouldnt have gotten much money!
The party ended about 7pm so we headed to an irish pub along the road from the hostel with the irish guys, called scruffy murpheys. It was great atmosphere with a really good irish band who played songs like the pogues. They asked if there was any scottish people in the audience so we all cheered when the band said they had a song for us, we were expecting a good scottish song. The ended up dedicating Kenny rogers and the gambler - i couldnt understand that one myself! I didnt think he was scottish. Anyways, was a brilliant night and met loads of nice people including a girl from springburn!! Hopefully we're all get to meet up again.
Today we're all a wee bit tender from last night, managed to have a walk to Sydney harbour, was a lovely day and we went for lunch in a place at the rocks in a street called Nurses walk. In the olden days (cant remember the dates) they recruited convicts as nurses to look after the poor, pretty much like the nhs of today then!!
Really looking forward to the rest of the week, going to do proper tourists things and celebrate xmas in style at bondi beach. Heading to the IMAX cinema tonight to see a 3D film about a haunted house. Should be a laugh as i scream at films that arent very scary! I dont think anyone will want to sit next to me!!
Loving sydney so far, cant wait to see all the sights!!!
