Finally we are here, Koh Samui!
James decided on the overnight bus rather than train, you know the big long thing with actually beds.. we got picked up from the hotel at and had a lovely walking tour to collect everyone else from their hotels. The woman walked so fast she had obviously never tried it with a rucksack on!
We got on the bus furnished with lovely floral frilly crtains and tartan blankets and tested out our seats to see how far they did actually recline as the ones in the brochure looked pretty comfy. How decieving it was. They put a film on and it was one of my favs so was happy untill the next fil Braveheart came on ten times louder, which by this point everyone had started going to sleep so it was just a nusance. We stopped at 11 for food all hoping when we got back on they would turn the tv and lights off but no, another hour of noise. Eventually they did and it was pitch black, we had heard so many rumours of people being robbed on the busses so had everything wrapped around us. Attempting to sleep was just impossible but we must have drifted off as I woke up being punched in the arm by a Thai guy shouting 'off, you off'. We were literally abandoned in this closed down cafe for well over an hour before a taxi turned up to take us to some random port then on another coach to the port.
The views on the boat are amazing and it was the first time I had seen James actually look excited. We took a taxi to Greens guest house wich was so cheap, 400bht a night and was right next to the beach.
Once again the lack of sleep was over ridden by excitment so we headed straight down to Ark bar on the beach to chil for a few hours.
That night we went to a bar called the islander for food, was really good and then headed back to Ark bar. The beach at night is amazing all the restaurants set up on the beach and are covered wit fairy lights, lanterns and fire shows. Its just amazing, tropical beach by day, party lovers paradise by night. We met a girl called Emily and micheal from germany so had a few beers with them before heading off to bed.
Day 2
Back to the islanders fro breakfast for a fry up and a proper coffee, we have both been craving a bit of English food since india which im sure you will understand why.
Once again back to Ark bar for the beach part and to james delight a free BBQ! just as we got our food who strolled down the path with their rucksacks, Justine and Alex the girls we had met in Bangkok, obviously as we had aeen them we all enede up at green mango that night a big open air club.
Day 3
Hangover - pool - food - bed
Day 4
Feeling all refreshed after an early night we got up and hired a scooter at only 200 bht we couldnt get over how cheap it was. James was a little bit rusy at first and couldnt turn so ended up skimming the curb on the opposite side of the road it was so funny.
First stop was a little remote beach with huge bolders everywhere, we climbed up to a viewpoint nd clambered down to a little cove it was so nice and sucha beautifull view. Oh on the way we saw a huge tesco so couldnt resist calling in!
Next stop was the waterfall. We parked up and went to find out how to get up and was either off road truck or 30 min trek. Feeling adventurous we trekked. OH MY DAYS, off James went hiking up the hills while i nearly passed out just looking at them. I thought it was bad untill we reached the jungle climb which was just ropes to pull yourself up the mountain side. Of course James found it highley amusinf laughing at me in my flip flops suffereing.
We got the the first waterfall and it was nothing impressive so continued up to the next which was so mucher better and had a well desvered rest in the water, the views were so good and james does like a good view so he was very happy.
Of course what goes up must come down, never mind all this trekking rubbish and good shoes, i stripped off to my bikini for the downwards hike.
At the bottom we went to see all the elephants having a bath and being fed there was a little baby one that was so cute. We then went to get a picture with the tigers, deffinatly the funniest part of the day I jumped straight in with the baby tiger, had it on my knee and fed it a bottle it was soooo cute, James however went for the big tiger but not before he had me and all the workers in stitches at how scared he was, hw wouldnt even walk past it he was petrifeid, me on the other hand jumped on the tiger stroking it...Nice kitty kitty!! Eventually he sat next to it, and made i worth every penny not to see the tiger but james face when he sat next to it. Thats the only thing he's not quite coping with is the bugs and flies.
By this time it was around 3 pm and still had half the island to see so headed off to see the Big Buddha, which is literally a Big Buddha right by the sea. Bo Put fisherman village is also really nice too.
We met the girls again that night, collected a few more lonely travellers and headed off to green mango for another bucket filled night.
The next day was another day by the pool working off a hangover. next stop Koh Phanang!
