Because of the weather in Krabi we didnt have high expectations of the weather in Phi Phi. The ferry ride was very dark, rough and agin terrential downpour so not the best boat trip. We stayed at Up Hill Cottage. Itr was cheap but abit of a trek up the mountain buit should get us into shape for the trak in chiang mai. The weather wasnt great so when we arrived we went to explore the island. There are no cars on the island and are able to walk from one side of the island to the other in like 3 minutes. Once again the heavens opened so we went back to the room untill it stpped later in the evening. That night we went to a resaurant called Cosmic for freshly made pizza (as James was craving a meat feast Dominator from Dominoes so this had to do). Randomly james jum,ped up from his seat over to som failiar looking lad! We couldn't believe it, it was James friend Josh who he plays rugby with from back home. Eeven wierder, same time, same restaurant he found another freiend from University called josh who also played rugby with..... Small Town! We did attempt to go to reggea reggea bar but after half hour I suddenly came over really ill so had to go back to the room.
The next day was also pretty rainy too so headed up to the viewpoint but as we reached the top it rained even more so it was a wasted trip but never mind the excersise was good.
Today was our last full day in Phi Phi so had to get James to Maya Bay so we booked an afternoon trip of snorkelling, cliff diving and a beach party. As we set off the weather was ok. The boat stopped for cliff diving and james was in his element throwig himself into the sea, me and another girl opted out to be the camera crew for everyones else. From here we went round to monkey bay and low and behold it started to rain. I am not joking I have never seen waves so big, we were all petrified as the boat came so close to capsizing so many times. I have actually never been so scared, pretty much all of us wanted to go back. We werent even far from the main island but couldnt see much more than a few metres in the wind and rain.
We finally plled into the lagoon for some snorkelling which was a nice way to warm up in the sea but again the visability wasnt very good and not many fish around. Non of us had a dry towel or clothes so were all freezing when we got back on the boat.
We went round to maya bay (the set of the film The Beach) but because of the waves we couldnt pull into the bay so had to swim about 50mtrs to the rocks and climb up this ridiculous rope ladder (it wasnt a proper ladder just bits of rope thrown everywhere) it was so hard as the waves thrashed us into the rocks but everntually we made it. The rain was so cold so we all literally sprinted through the trees and through ourselfs into the sea to get warm. The excitement was soon lost thought when we realised we had an hour on the beach but the wind was getting worse and we were all getting a bit rinkly in the sea, I think we lasted about 35 mins before we made the trek and swim back to the boat.
Because of the horrific ride to the beach we all voted and said we didnt care about the bbq we wanted to be back on dry land however they convinced us otherwise with the promise of a fire! We were so glad we listened to them it was amazing. We pulled into a tiny little cover that was practically a cave, there were mats all around the outskits of the rocks and all lit up by fire, in the middle was a big tent with a bbq and music and drinks! We had such a good night they also did a really good fire show, the food was amazing so we all had a few drinks before heading into the pitch black sea to see the plankton all lit up! it looked so cool. About half 9 we headed back to land to get ready for our celebratory "we didnt capsize drinks".
We all met and headed to Reggea reggea Bar for beers buckets and of course muay thai, it was so good, even better when the proffesionals got up they absolutely flawed each other! We were there till about midnight and then headed down to slinkys a bar on the beach. This was better than the half moon and it was free we had sucha good night before heading to a really chilled out bar at the end of the beach and stayed there till abut 4am in histerics! Overall a really really good day and now its time to get packing again as we head off to Chaing Mai!
