Ah Brisbane!! First city we have been to in Oz and we love it. We travelled from Noosa with Kyle and Bianca as Jody has gone to meet her friend.
We were all staying at Xbase central. The hostel was huge with 400 beds but luckily we were only in a 6 bed dorm. The hostel even had its own club called down under which was literally in the basement.
When we were all sorted we headed down to the river and walked through the botanical gardens. Nothing that special really. From the we hit up woolworths to get things for the backpacker speciality good old spag bol.
Little did we know how bad the kitchen would be. 6 hobs for 400 people. It took us 20 minutes to to find and wash knives and forks and plates and had to bribe some guy and wash his pan just so we could even cook. The kitchen was so dirty it was just hurrendous but thank god for goon.
Anyyyywaayyyyy the night very quickly got a whole load better. Some guy came in the kitchen and had some sheet and said to put our names on it and there would be a draw and the winner would get a $50 bar tab. OF COURSE I WON IT!! woop drinks on me tonight I was sooo happy as we were already going out but could now go the the nice bar for cocktails first. We found Marie and Nanna so invited them along too. It was such a treat.
The night then got a whole lot better still. So first of all an apologie to the parents and grandparents but please remeber we are crazy 25/23 years old backpacking the world having fun = )
so basically it was some mad beach party in the bar and the had wet tshirt competitions, so in our drunkeness me and Nanna thought it would be a good idea to do it as the prize was $300. Of course we also one that $150 in my back pocket. Even better we also one a skydive so again in our drunken state thought it would be fun to aution it off in the club. Clever us as we made another $250. So we had another $100 each and then spent $50 buying everyone in our group a drink!
It was by far the best night out I have ever had!!
The next day we were all feeling pretty damn rough, but still me, James and Bianca got up and ready and went for a walk down to the south bank over the river. We decided to be cultural and go in the art gallery which of course was free. In my still drunken state there was this one pitcure tht looked more like a collage with a big hole in the middle. So what did I do stand rubbing my hand all over this picture. I heard his huge scream and some crazy woman running over to me going mad that I touched some centuary old piture. In my deffence there was no signs saying not to touch. We soon left.
We stopped by the lagoon for a rest and then carried on round that area. We found and a really cool sweet shop that sold push pop and the lollys that you could play a whistle on (they sold lots of other sweets too but these had me jumping like a little kid) so of course I bought them with my winnings. Oh and not to mention I was incredibly kind and bought James his breakfast and a huge can of pop. Such a good girlfriend I am.
Anyway, we were starting to feel the heat and tiredness was kicking in. We headed back and made an attempt at shopping but failed miserably and ended back in bed for the rest of the afternoon.
That evening I also treated James to the meal deal in the pub but us, Bianca and Kyle, well we could barely keep our eyes open let alone consume the pint of cider that came with dinner. Luckily we found the tv room and some northern lad put Lee Evans on so enjoyed a lazy night in front of the box.
Day 3 me and James went to the Loan Pine Koala Sancutry abuot 40 mins by bus out of Brisbane.
AHHHHH the Koalas were so cute and there were so many all curled up and wrapped round trees. We also got to see so many kangaroos. We were a bit apprehensive about getting to close but we realised we looked incredibly daft whilst everyone else was stroking and feeding them. We sat through some talk about snakes and got to get a picture with a Koala. There wasnt too much else there but it was another tick off the list and we had a really nice day.
That night was another chilled out night as we were leaving for Hervey bay the next morning.
