Kuala Lumper!!!! What a city!
We had an 8.20 flight from Pnomh Penh so by the time we got to our hotel, Green Hut Lodge which was in the Bukit BIntang area (reccomended by Harry and Amy) it was about 2pm. We quickly showered and walked to the Time Square shopping Centre! Wowser, about 10 floors or shiny sparkling shops, I was in heaven but I can imagine the thoughts going though James head, ten floors of hell. First stop was of course Nandos. We couldnt wait as we were both starving by this point. It was'nt as great as in the UK but still it was a little slice of home.
Fed and watered we were ready to hit the shops but after about 6 floors we realised it was more a glorified market as most shops sold the same. If only I had the money and the room to spend though. the nicest dresses, I could fill my wardrobe for about 30 pound. The 5th floor was the best it has a small themepark inside and the rollercoaster looked so good but you had to buy a wristband rather than paying for just one ride so we sacked that off as we know were going to universal studios in singapore for rides. On the way out we stopped at Krispy Kreme for a doungnut for an energy boost and then got the monorail to the Petronas towers.
The towers looked sureal, James loved it. We were there for ages trying to take pictures. Even to look at them they look fake. As we only had one full day we decided we would pay to go up the towers the next day. After happy snapping for a while we went in the shopping centre and TOPSHOP and TOPMAN! great I tried on all sorts, so did James but still no money and no room for clothes = (
Out the back of the shopping centre was a big park with a huge fountain show going so we sat and watched that for a while but we were so tired from being up early for our flight we were both ready for bed by this point.
We got back to the hotel at about 7pm and were flat out asleep by 8.
So today we were up at 7.30am to get tickets to go up the Petronas towers. Even after a great nights sleep we were both struggeling to get up. We got our tickets for the towers and then headed our the back to the starbucks overlooking the fountains. We loved sitting having breakfast watching all the business people having there morning coffee meetings.
We got the tickets for 11am as we had decided to go up there in the morning then the KL tower at night. First of all you go on the bridge which is on the 41st floor. We had 15 minutes to take photos before we go up to the 86th floor to the observation deck. It was really good and the views were ok but it was really misty so couldnt see very far but a great experience.
From the towers we stupidly decided to walk to the KL tower to get tickets for that night. Bad idea we were swaeting like crazy and no wounder it looks so tall its on the top of a hill. We got to the desk and she told us to just get tickets when we came back incase the weather was bad.
From there we got a taxi into China town adn Petal Jalang street which is just another market place for a walk around.
The evening that went slightly wrong.
That night we we were going to go to the KL tower or the Traders hotel to the sky bar, both undecided we headed out to make our minds up on the way. Before this just out of the hotel we came across a road full of really nice looking restaurants, so me stupidly said as we were all dressed up we should treat ourself to a nice meal.
The food was gorgous and the wine was lovely. We even had prawns to start but the taste of the food was quickly ruined when the bill came to 135rm (malaysian ringit) although this is only about 20 quid usually our meals would come to no more than 10rm each so we were pretty devestated BUT we did have a really nice meal. We set of walking to Kl tower which tok about 20 mins so were rather sweaty, only to find we were 5 minutes late and the ticket desk was closed. We were both so annoyed as we really wanted to go up, but that just meant we got to go to the fancy bar instead.
We went back to the petronas towers to get more picture at night which it really did look insane. From there we went to the Traders Hotel for a drink. The bar was amazing and was all open top overlooking the towers, even better there was a swimming pool running down the centre of the bar. VERY expensve drinks but we had a great time.
This trip has been short and sweet as we knew how expensive it would be so off we go again.
