Hello Ko Samui... We're back, only this time we're doing it 5 star style!
We booked into the Mantra Samui spa resort up in the islands mountains and it was definitely worth every penny and minute. The place was beautiful! We had a balcony that over looked the lower towns, palm tree forests & right over the ocean, plus the room was obviously the best one we have had yet. We managed to stock out backpacks up with complimentary soap, tooth brushes, sewing kits, candles, nail files & cotton buds hehe.
As we was only booked in for 2 nights, we made the most of our luxurious accommodation. We spent our first afternoon/ evening down by the infinity pool drinking cocktails, soaking up the sun, eating gourmet food & we decided to book a nice, relaxing, stress relieving massage for the morning .. as you do when your backpacking :0)
We was up at the crack of dawn & down to enjoy our 5* breakfast. It was excellent food. We then headed for our 'relaxing' 2 hour massage at the hotel spa.. Oh my word... The pain!! I nearly had to stop this tiny little Thai woman that was pulverising my body!! Where did she get her strength?! I felt like she had beaten me with a stick & left me battered & bruised. Surely in a few days I will feel the benefits??? I had to hit the pool and swim a little to cool off and stretch out... Then 3pm came round which meant one thing... 2 for 1 cocktails! Wooo :)
We tried all the cocktails on the offers menu, mojito's, margarita & a few Thai lemon, gin & vodka concoctions, along with getting them to alter a few into frozen ones. We met some Australian couples at the swim up pool bar who then joined us in the cocktail marathon. The evening was excellent and made even better by being topped up with free cocktails, Thai crackers & popcorn, complimentary of the hotel's cocktail hour. Plus even better, I could no longer feel the 'relaxing' pain all over my back & shoulders... Winner.
I was sad to leave this hotel but we had to leave at the crack of dawn once again. Ferries and transfers like to leave about 3 hours extra time to get you there, then you sit around in the boiling heat waiting... Slightly annoying when you missed breakfast cause they rocked up 40 min too early to pick you up!! ... So that's it for us girls with the Island hopping! I think it's fair to say we've done quite a bit!! We're now on the coach heading to Surat Thani to catch our plane.
Next stop Bangkok...
