Becky Bravo's Adventures
Today we got up early and went to the Cu Chi Tunnels. It was very interesting. It is especially interesting to hear about the war from the other side. The Cu Chi Tunnels were really the only thing that I did involving the Vietnam war, there were some museums and such but so much focus is all about the war, I was more interested in learning about the culture and people living in it today. But the Tunnels were pretty cool. We got to crawl through one of them and it was kinda scary. Our guide kept going really far ahead and he had the flashlight so we couldn't see, we just kinda had to follow his voice. I can't imagine what is was like being there and having to stay in those tunnels during the war. After we toured around the tunnels and such, we had the option of firing a gun at a shooting range thing. It was like 1.3 US dollars for one bullet, I only fired one, I don't really like guns so much, but I thought it would be cool to just fire one. First of all, even with the bloody earphones on, the shooting range is just LOUD. And when I shot the gun it pushed me back a little bit. (for those of you who have fired guns, you are probly laughing at me right now, but hey, it was my first time, I didn't know what to expect) So there is a picture of me posing with the gun (an AK 47 apparently) and then one of me making a weird face because I just fired the gun. After that, we picked up our dresses that we got made (I included a picture of me and Hayley in our dresses. It turned out so well, and was only 16 dollars). Then we did more shopping and I bought a really cheap phone card and talked to my mom and Tim and my best friend Pookie for a while. At the internet café they had this program that you could just make calls through the internet, and I paid 7 bucks for over 200 minutes, so that was how I spent the rest of the day til I had to be back on the ship. It felt really nice to have nice long conversations and not have to worry about how many minutes I was wasting. I am back on the ship right now, but we don't leave port until tomorrow morning at 9 am. Then we will be in Hong Kong on Tuesday. I really enjoyed Vietnam. The people were nice, the shopping was amazing. I got so many DVDs it is insane. I really don't know how I will do homework on this ship ever again. Thank goodness there are not many more days of classes. Really, we only have 13 more days of class. It's kind of crazy because I have a lot of work to do. Speaking of work, I have a test tomorrow that I have not read for or studied for, heck, I don't even know what will be on the test, so perhaps I should get working on that....
