Becky Bravo's Adventures
Today started with a stop at the store to get some pastries for going punting on the river. Since Matt is a student of the college, he can rent boats for free, so that is what we spent two hours doing this morning.
**OH, I almost forgot one of the best parts about Oxford! On Pookie and Matt's street, this artist moved in, and he put a Great White Shark through his roof. How crazy! Apparently it caused much controversy with the city with codes, and what not, but he was granted permission to keep his house with a Great White coming out of it. Seriously, this dude is my hero!**
Now, punting looks easy, but it is super hard! You have a long pole that is super heavy and it is really hard to steer. It must just come with practice. Matt was great at it, save for the few times we got caught in some bushes, but who am I to talk, because when I tried it, I got us caught in some bushes as well, and I only lasted but 30 minutes or so, Matt did it for the other hour and a half. Pookie tried it before, and felt like riding in the boat was more her style.
Sadly though, we did have a frightening experience when I found a spider in my champagne cup, along with one crawling on my hand, and Pookie found one in her purse. Thanks to the bushes we got caught in. Now these were small spiders, but I HATE spiders, no matter what size. Pookie and Matt felt the same way.
But our punting trip on the river was scenic and relaxing. We saw a lot of rowers from the school out practicing. That was interesting. I saw the church were Harry Potter was filmed, and other famous sites.
After punting, Matt had to do some work, so after seeing some of Matt's college, Pookie showed me around town. We did a little shopping, a little sight seeing. The highlight of which would be our stop in Oxford University's Museum of Natural History. It was free to get in, and great educational fun! Who could ask for more?
We met Matt on a bus and came home for dinner, and Matt graciously cooked for us again. We also had a weird urge to do a puzzle, so we picked one of those up at a second-hand store, put on some Friends DVDs, and worked on the puzzle.
