Becky Bravo's Adventures
Well, the time difference finally caught up with us, and we slept until about 1pm today. But it was ok, because I guess it had to happen for us to catch up. We then decided it would be fun to rent some bikes and go for a bike ride. Our hostel offered bike rentals, so that is just what we did. However, leave it to Kristin and I to make a super easy concept super complicated:
Atttempt 1: First, the bikes the hostel let us rent had super high seats, and we needed tools to adjust them, which we did not have, so we decided to grin a bear it. Then about a couple blocks down the road, Kristin realized that her tire was flat. So we rode back to the hostel.
Attempt 2: The hostel owners were nice enough to pump up her tire, adjust both of our seats, which took about ten minutes, but it was raining outside, and we felt a little annoying to the owners, but they were super nice about it. So we set off again with well adjusted seats and pumped tires. At least my tires were pumped, Kristin realized right away that her back tire again was flat. There was obviously a hole in it, so we set back to the hostel again.
Attempt 3: They got her a whole new bike, which sounds easier than it was because they were mounted up on a wall hanger type thing, and we kept dragging these poor people out in the rain to help us. But luckily, they gave us our 10 pound payment for the rentals back, and third time was a charm, about an hour after trying to get the bikes, we were finally able to set out on our own makeshift bike tour of Edinburgh.
We rode around Edinburgh for hours, and it was awesome! It was super rainy, the hostel people were really shocked that we were actually about to go out all day in the rain but we are both from Seattle, so we could bear it easily. We stopped off in many shops, mailed out some post cards, got some hot drinks at a Starbucks, and actually came upon a cool Taste of Spain Festival with a live band and everything.
We saved some money by buying food from the grocery to cook in our kitchen that night. We had three bags of groceries to carry home on our bikes in the rain, but we were successful.
Then around eleven or so, we took a cab into town and found a really cool dance club. We danced the night away, and the DJ even played some MJ (Thriller) which made for some fun and some showing off of my sweet moves. ;) I also discovered this boxing game thing that held my attention for the lot of the night.
Anyways, we thoroughly enjoyed Scotland.
