Today's summary of the day will definitely not be as action-packed, as all we did was hang out by the pool all day. But it was a fantastic day, filled with the exact stuff vacations should be made of.
We had an awesome breakfast buffet. Breakfast buffets are both me and Jaime's favorite part of the all-inclusive resorts. Breakfast food is just so good! Plus, you could make your own mimosas and mixed drinks, so I had a couple mimosas made with pinapple juice, and YUMM!!!
After breakfast, we staked out our spots by the pool (Jon was nice enough to go save us some prime seats before we met up for breakfast) and just drank, napped, ate, and swam the day away. Shareen and I walked out onto the beach, and were able to walk really far out because the tide was so far out. We saw tons of crabs, little fish in the pools, and a very cool view of our hotel from out there.
So since we are at an all-inclusive, or paid for that option, we had the regular pool bar, the swim up pool bar, plus servers walking around offering us food and drinks, and to say we took advantage of that is an understatement. We didn't have to go to the lunch buffet because we had food brought to us.
We had an absolute blast hanging out at the pool bar. We met people from all over - mostly Canada and places like Michigan and Illinois. All the northerners apparently flock south for the winter. Which makes sense sinve it is in the high 80s to low 90s here. The bar tenders at this bar are super fun, and one guy we met had his huge blue tooth speaker and was blasting songs and taking requests and we had a great time meeting new people and singing and dancing in the pool.
The area we had our chairs at was a more quiet area, the adult-only area, and when Shareen and I were chilling, she found a little lizard in the pool, and scooped it out and saved its life. So we took some photos with it, and made sure it got to safety.
So when I say we napped, I mean I fell asleep in this quiet area, and although I was wearing plenty of sunscreen, still got burned quite a bit. The sun is very fierce down here, which makes sense being that much closer to the equator.
We had a dinner reservation at the Asian A la Carte Restaurant so left the to get cleaned up for that as there was a dress code. The food was AMAZING. And another thing I love about this resort is there are plenty of vegetarian options. AND like I said yesterday, the menus have the prices on them, so you can actually see the price of the food you are getting. Since Jaime, Jon, and Shareen eat meat, they got sushi and fish, oh boy would that stuff have been pricey. I got a really good fried rice with tofu dish, and their veggie egg rolls were some of the best I have ever had. And the dessert? Awesome.
We are in bed pretty early now as our transportation for our trip to the other side of the country to San Blas Islands is picking us up at 5:00am tomorrow.
