Becky Bravo's Adventures
It rained today, which was really no shocker, as it has rained EVERYWHERE that we have been on our trip. The only bummer was that we payed for the city tour on an open-roofed double-decker bus. Why would we not just sit inside the bus, you ask? Well, just as we could handle biking in the rain in Scotland, a little rain on the top of the bus in Dublin would do us no harm. Washingtonians were built for days like this.
We did not wake up until about 11:00am today, so we got some GOOD sleep, which we both really needed. We went straight to get on the bus, and rode around the city. The tour was a hop-on, hop-off bus pass for a full 24 hours, so we could get off and back on the bus whenever wanted, busses came to the various bus stops every 15 minutes or so.
We explored the Temple Bar area and ate some chinese food there (which was actually really gross, and no, no french fries this meal). We also went to a historical Museum, which we thought was going to be more like the Museum of Natural History that I went to in Oxford, but it was only art, and war history, which was very different, but informative nonetheless, and FREE! We saw the Guinness Factory, which, no we did not go in as it did charge admission, and there were just TONS of people there. But the tour we were on gave us lots of history on the factory, like it has a 9,000 year lease. Thats crazy.
Anyways, after our fun day of rain and bus-riding, we ate at this really sweet restaurant / pub. There was live music, and great vegetarian food, and yes, french fries. ;) We stayed and watched the musicians, it was just two guys, one played guitar and sang, the other just sang. They have their own music, but they also sang a lot of traditional Irish songs, and that was really fun to be a part of. Kristin enjoyed a Guiness, and she was kind enough to buy me a cider, and they were both so much better than that gross stout stuff we had the night before. But, yes, alsmo much more expensive.
After that, we just came straight back to our hotel and made sure to get a wake up call for 5:30am that next morning as we had to be at the airport by 7:00am for our long journey home...
