Today we got up early for a very eventful day. Our Segway Tour met at 8am, so we got up early to catch 2 Ubers to the beach. Let me tell you, early Sunday morning is the time to go to Miami Beach. It was EMPTY! Our segway tour was about 90 minutes, and we rode around with a guide and he showed up notable sites, and we had some cool photo ops. My legs got a little tired, oddly enough. You do not have to pedal or anything, but keeping your balance takes a lot of energy! This my first time riding a segway, and it was a little scary at first, but once I got the hang of it, it was a lot of fun. Jaime and everybody else had done it at one time or another.
Mary hadn't slept as she took the redeye, and was super tired, so she headed back the Air BnB after the segway tour was over. The rest of us went straight to the beach for some time in the ocean. The water is so beautiful and so much warmer than our beaches in California! We swam, and played in the water, and got some cool photos, and were having so much fun, we didn't even realize how freaking hungry we were until we got out of the water and were all shaky and dehydrated. So after drying off, we stopped at the first restaurant we could find for some food! It was still really early at this point, and the breakfast specials were amazing! Like $5.99 for eggs, sausage, etc. I realize that is the price for Grand Slam at Dennys, but for a high traffic tourisy area to offer something like that, was pretty nice.
Linda, Sue and Gerry headed back after we ate, but Hayley, Jesse, Jaime and me all continued to walk along the street and the beach to shop, and take more photos. We ended going into another restaurant where they were offering 2 for 1 drinks, and the drinks were HUGE! (see pictures!) Also, very refreshing and delicious. We were able to get some little souvenirs and items we were looking for, then headed back our Air BnB as well.
Many movies and TV shows are filmed in Miami Beach, our segway tour guide pointed out some sites we might recognize from movies such as Scarface and TV shows such as Miami Vice.
Since we were able to reschedule our sunset cruise, we got ready for that and ordered another Uber to our meeting point. This cruise was fun, Jaime and I took some Dramamine beforehand as we thought it might be rocky, but it was not the non-drowsy kind, so we both were kind of tired and groggy, but we still enjoyed it. They provided food and little snacks for us, and we just rode around and saw many celebrity houses, (Very large and expensive ones) and headed back towards the city once the sun went down. This allowed for awesome photos of the skyline at night.
A few members of our group went out for a late dinner after this, but Jaime and I just grabbed something quick near our Air BnB and just relaxed for the rest of the evening as we were pretty tired. Luckily, there is a large grocery store that we can walk to, so we picked up some snacks, and Jaime got his dinner from a walk up fast food place called Checkers. I just got a veggie microwave meal. A benefit to an Air BnB over a hotel is you have a kitchen, so that was a nice perk to have.
Tomorrow we board the cruise! Jaime and I took a cruise back in 2015 right after we got engaged and had a horrible time, so looking forward to being with close friends and hopefully having a better experience on this one!
