Becky Bravo's Adventures
Well, we just left Brazil behind and have begun our 8 day voyage to South Africa. We won't see land again for a long time. I had a lot of fun here, but honestly I am not too sad to leave. With all the dangerous stuff here and with Carnival, it just wasn't my scene. Plus I have been so excited about South Africa that I was always kinda not too thrilled about Brazil. Yesterday was so much fun though. I took a Semester at Sea sponsored trip to two different Islands. We had a lunch buffet at a really nice restaurant and just got to chill on the beaches and hang out and explore. It was beautiful. On one of the islands me and Ally were tourist attractions because these two ladies wanted pictures with us. They didn't speak English, they just made hand gestures that they wanted a picture with us. I think they may have been amazed at how the sun reflecting off my very pale skin was almost blinding. Then there was this random dude up on the cliff where we were at who saw the ladies taking pictures with us, then he wanted one with us. Ah, there is just no privacy when you are famous. (Kidding) Anyways, as much fun as the Islands were yesterday, I got crazy sunburned. I am so red that one of the crew members told me he liked lobster then grabbed a fork and a knife and pretended to cut me up and eat me. And yes, I put SPF 30 on, but apparently when below the equator, I need SPF one billion. I am so burned and it hurts to move. But I have been putting on aloe like its my job. And, just to add to my discomfort, my rope burns from the circus do not feel good either. They look really bad too. I just got it all in Brazil. Rope burn, sun burn. Now all I need to do is catch my hair on fire and I think that may just top it all off. Onto another subject,...there is this form of martial arts here in Brazil called Capoeria. It is really cool. We have been learning about it in class, and they have demonstrations of it all over on the beaches and in markets and stuff here. What is even cooler is that in kickboxing classes I teach, there are a few elements of Capoeria so I have done some of the stuff in my classes, and I got to see it firsthand here! I even bought some cool Capoeria pants and took a picture of me in them for you all. How do ya like my roundhouse kick? And I got a pretty cool tank top so I put in a picture of me in that, and you can also see my super fun sunburn. I really am that red. Actually, that picture doesn't do me justice. I am a lot redder than it looks. Well, I have a lot of reading I need to do for tomorrow, I almost kinda forgot that I do have to do homework every now and then.

Michael Melilli Brazilio Sounds like you felt the same way about Brazil I did... Oh man, I’m so jealous and massively tempted to jump on a plane and meet you in Africa. Be sure to eat some Ghostbusters Original Flavored snacks there!!! (I’m not kidding about that, we found them in the grocery store in Cape Town.) Have fun and don’t get eaten by sharks!
