Byron was where we got to do some much awaited surfing and it was AWESOME!
We were here for two nights. Byron Bay itself it very boho and pretty small but what I imagined it to be like. It was nice. Although nothing to shout home about in my opinion but I see why people love it.
Most things are on the same street which was nice. We had a wonder up and down but mostly did some organizing for our future activities at a travel agent.
I'm also pretty sure I saw a girl I went to school with walking down the street. I couldn't be certain so didn't say anything.
We shared a room with two British girls who were a little younger than us. They told us what we had witnessed ourselves about the hostel, it was very cliquey! The first night we went for a walk down the beach, it was pretty dark and couldn't help but think I was going to get eaten by a crab.
The next day we went on our surfing lesson. The package was for four hours but in all we only surfed for just under two. What they don't tell you is that the four hours includes getting there and back. It was at Lennox point. The guy who owned and taught was pretty crazy but very funny. I thought I was going to get the hang of it pretty easily and Kate thought she was going to be terrible. She stood up on her second time. I was SO bad two of the three instructors took it upon themselves to teach (drill) me and to be the one to finally get me stood up. It was exhausting but I loved every minute of it. I stood up after about the 10th attempt haha! The instructor said to me 'No offense but your butch' haha - I wasn't insulted but normally people keep schtum about things like that, I kind of liked his boldness. I could have slapped him. I was ready to learn more but after awhile we had to leave. I would love to do more surfing.
That night we chilled at the hostel again. Then we were off the next morning to Sydney.
