VEGAS BABY! That was what Kate and I kept repeating to each other on our journey to sin city. We were very excited and mutually so, sometimes it’s one-sided.
Kate and I were especially keyed up because we thought we were going back to sunshine and warmth. What an unpleasant surprise, it was very chilly and I had packed my flip flops in the top of my bag. I was less miffed than I thought I would be because I went last August and the heat was disgusting. I couldn’t decide what was the lesser of two evils.
We stayed in Circus Circus because we heard the hostels were pretty dodgy in LV. We were thrilled about the fact we were getting a king bed each for 3 nights. Good times. The hotel was actually cheaper than the hostel would have been ($21 a night).
We slept in pretty late the first morning but managed to see the hotel and the first part of the strip. There was an offer on cocktails between 2am and 2pm the next day so when we got up and went downstairs we treated ourselves. Also repeated this shortly before 2am that night. We got stopped by a guy giving out wristbands for exclusive LV nightclubs. We were offered free entry and free drinks (turned out only free drinks til midnight and the club opened at 10.30pm). We jumped at the chance because we never would go to one of these clubs again. Our sightseeing was cut short because I needed to buy some heels.
We ended up going to Jet nightclub in the Mirage hotel and casino. We felt pretty special, although there wasn’t really a queue. The club was nice and there were some glamorous people there. We managed to get into a VIP seating area because they wanted more females in there ha-ha! We spent most of the night with a nice Australian guy. We had a good time.
The next day we slept off our hangover and got a lot done late afternoon til night. We headed downtown where I showed Kate the Fremont experience (light show). We also saw the strip from MGM and down. Also the Bellagio fountains which did ‘Big Suspender’, it was awesome.
I think overall I won $70 after only putting $6 in. Las Vegas was a bit of a drain on the money though. I don’t really know how.
All in all we really enjoyed ourselves, the nightclub being the highlight. However we agreed that Las Vegas had a depressing side.
Also cowboys were in town for the rodeo, which was an extra treat.
