Days Unknown
We have lost track of the days already. I tried counting back but I am so tired that I cannot work it out.
Since our last blog post we have done so much that we will need to split it into two entries.
1: We left Bangkok on the over night sleep train to Chiang Mai - a new experience for both of us. There were 4 people to a cabin and we were together with 2 German guys out in SE Asia for 2 months. The train took approximately 12 hours and within 30 minute sof departure, Simon had already been told 3 times that he was not allowed to smoke by a guy with a gun - most people would only need to be told once by him! A few hours in and a few Changs later, Simon and the German guys decided to brave the no smoking ban in the buffet car and found a smoking party. It didnt last long as they were too loud and too drunk and were sent to bed.
The toilets on the train were so disgusting people were actually taking photos of them, there was even a communal toothbrush!
We arrived in Chaing Mai at about 10am and were picked up by the hotel car. The hotel was ok, nothing special but just a place for one night before heading into the Jungle.
This night happened to be the night for Thai boxing so went to a Muay Thai match. 7 fights (including girl fights). When we initially got there, it all looked a little seedy with lady boys and guys with prostitutes everywhere. The place soon filled up and the atmosphere was great. I was betting with the local Thai guys, I won some and lost others. I ended up about 200 baht up as there was a drunk English guy at the table next to us who wanted to bet. He let me pick who ever I wanted so went for the biggest guy each time which was the best idea.
Chang is strong local beer. The bottle says 6.4% but the bar person said they are not really sure and can be anywhere between 6% and 12%! but we both love it.
Thanks for all the messages on the blog site :) Next post soon.
