G'day!
Wow it sure has been a while.... So I last wrote 'Now all that's left to do is to find a job and plan my adventures on the East Coast, Tasmania, Perth, New Zealand and Thailand... Fun times!!! This is most definitely the life!!!'
Well 3 out of 6 sure aint bad!! Finding a job was the easy part. A far cry from the cafe experience I was seeking. Darling Harbour, Commonwealth Bank, a great bunch of work mates and back to good old training.... 12,000 miles I travelled to be a Trainer but surprisingly I'm loving it. It seems that Training may well be what the future holds for me but at least right now I'm doing it whilst living the Aussie dream!
Half way through my Australian adventure and I'm loving every minute. I'm missing home dreadfully but with only 4 months to go I know it's going to whiz by. It only seems 5 minutes ago that I was in the middle of the Australian outback, beleive it not that was over 3 months ago. I'm definitely making the most of my time here :-)
During my stint as a working girl (not that kind of working girl I might add), I've been making the most of the weekends... Yarra Valley, Kangeroo Valley, a rainy bank holiday weekend in Forster and the spectacularly beautiful Bondi to Cougee walk. I'm looking forward to the rest of my weekends in the Sydney sunshine (though dreading the heat).
Last weekend saw the sad end to my east Coast adventure... My man, some sushine, a camper van and the open road, what more could I ask for? Well actually, slightly more room inside said camper van might have been nice, less sweat (from the east coast humidity I might add) and less rain would have been just swell but clearly that was too much to ask! We had a blast regardless... The time together was priceless but the consensus was that the East Coast was a little disappointing. I'm just glad I had the chance to see it 5 years ago before the additional few million tourists descended on these stunning beaches and turned them into the tourist traps they have become. Never the less we had an amazing time together and it's another tick on the 'ToDo' list.
East coast highlights?? Seeing my man of course, but as predicted, Airlie Beach and Byron Bay were almost as good as I remembered. The Lone Pine Koala sanctuary was brilliant as was Toronga zoo where I fell in love with the echidna. Sea kayaking was amazing (though a spot of sunshine would have been a Brucey bonus) but not half as scary as I thought it would be. camper vanning was fun (if a little cramped and sweaty). My Grandparents would be proud! More importantly we raised some of life's important questions.... Does the water really drain down the plughole in the opposite direction in Australia than it does in the UK? Why does red wine make only some people's teeth black? And are the stars in the Australian sky the same ones as those in the UK sky but back to front? Many a google moment.....
One whole week back at work and off to Tasmania this afternoon for a week of touring the sights. Hobart, Strahan, Cradle Mountain, Devonport, Bicheno, Port Arthur and back to hobart... Fun times I hope. I promise to be better at blogging on this trip... honest!!
What does the future hold? Only 7 more weeks at work, saving hard to pay for all this travel. One more trip to melbourne in December to catch up with friends, Brisbane for Christmas and then the arrival of more visitors to Sydney for New Year Sydney style... Can't wait!! January = Perth and the west coast and February in New Zealand with my step Mum. So much to look forward to (and still so much to plan)... Missing everyone at home but not long now really, as you can see I'm doing a great job of keeping myself busy, nothing changes there :-)
Til my post Tasmania blog.... Over and out.xxx
