went to th egolden triangle today, where burma meets laos and thaialnd. in th emorning we crossed over 2 burma n got loads of wkd stuff like dvds n cds for really cheap just hope they work! then travelled to the golden triangle and had lunch over lookingit whilst we all argued about which country the sandbar in the middle belonged to. in the end it turned out to be no mans land. lol then we took a fast speet boat thai style to laos n looked around the market ...

we arrived in chang rai early afternoon at the PDA centre and had lunch in a restaurant called cabbages and condoms which helps promote awarness to the local people to reduce AIDs and lower population growth. you could get free condoms at the end in either thai size or international size.... we had a talk at the PDA centre about the trek and what to expect from the hill tribe villages. we arrived at change rai from chang mai after a 3 hour bus journey in which we were served with coke nd chocoloate (yummy) we arrived at the hill tribe museam in which we were briefed about our tour watched a slide show and also had a look at some info on opium and how 2 make it... then we took a bus to our vilage homestay in which we were served a gorgous meal and had a lovely presentation of music by the kids whilst we were eating. we woke up early (for us) and went to check out the JEATH war museam in the town centre. it was full of paintings and newspaper clippings portraying the atrocities inflicted on the allied troops when building the bridge over the river kwai to link burma and thailand by rail. it was a harrowing account of the suffering that the japs inflicted upon thousands of people including many thais.
