Beki and Steves travels
we woke up early (for us) and went to check out the JEATH war museam in the town centre. it was full of paintings and newspaper clippings portraying the atrocities inflicted on the allied troops when building the bridge over the river kwai to link burma and thailand by rail. it was a harrowing account of the suffering that the japs inflicted upon thousands of people including many thais.
After this we set off to the 7 steps water fall which took an hour by back of jeep (all 11 of us). When we reached there we ordered our food and then set off to the second level. we then went swimming in the waterfall with lots of sucky fishes who nibbled your toes ( harmless but felt really weird, most peopel freaked out a bit when they first felt it!) then our food arrived at which point we saw a monkey climb down from the trees and snatch a packet of crisps. we gaurded our food catiously. After we made the trek up to the top 1000m up looking at all the differnt waterfalls and having fun crossing around them and climbing up \"laddders\" to get to the top. As we had run out of time we almost had to run down, katie did this in bare feet as flip flops dnt hold to well. we made it with one min to spare.
we made our way back down and back to the main town where we went cannoeing down the river kwai and under the bridge. It took us a while and a bit of shouting to get our canoe going where we wanted to but once we had it was amazing. Steve said it was like being in \"apocalypse now\" we had our dinner overlooking the bridge in a fancy restaurant in which i had the most amazing huge ruby fish for aroun 2quid and rice an d managed to convert steve into liking fish! steve lucked out though with the duck meal as it was nice but had little meat on it. Also the head was still there! after wasrd we went for a few drinks in the no name bar whcih was titled \" get sh.t faced on a showstring\" we dnt dare try the local whisky. great day!
