Hong Kong day two.
We had a full tour booked for our second day in Hong Kong and, like day one, it did not disappoint. Firstly, we had a trip on a junk style boat and sailed around the harbor area. It was a good opportunity to see Hong Kong Island before actually setting foot there.
The skyline on Hong Kong island is very similar to Kowloon but there are a lot more business and economic type buildings rather than residential. After our harbor trip we were taken by tram to the top of Victoria Peak which is the high highest mountain in Hong Kong district. The view from the top was really good but I thought the view from everywhere in Hong Kong was amazing!
We found a thimble! in fact.... David went to the loo and, whilst he was away, I found a thimble. Because Dave had our money on him, I managed to borrow some from a lady on our bus. I excitedly waved the thimble at Dave when he came back from the loo. He then waved the one he had found back at me! After not finding ANY at all in all the places we have been....we then found two independently of each other. Weird.
Lunch was held at a touristy floating restaurant called Jumbo floating restaurant. In my opinion, it was not as good as the vegetarian meal we had eaten the day before in the temple place. Dave was thrilled though because one of the dishes was a huge plate of Singapore style noodles to share between six of us. No one else really wanted any and so he was diligently working his way through the lot. He didn't finish them because we ran out of time and had to leave....I don't think he is over the disappointment yet lol.
We had another boat ride after lunch, this time on small fishing vessels which barely looked sea worthy. I thought it was great fun! They took us round to see houseboats in the harbor where fishermen live. I could not imagine living in one of those houses....they are completely open to the elements aside from either pieces of tarp or a shabby looking wooden roof.
After a very successful shopping trip at Stanley market, it was time to head back to the ship. We have really enjoyed our time in Hong Kong and would love to come back here one day.
There is likely to be so much more to see and do and it is a very friendly place too.
I took some photos from our balcony of the view over the skyline at sunset just as we were leaving the harbor. Now we have a day at sea and then on to Vietnam. We have been told that the people in Vietnam are awesome so we are looking forward to it. This sea day is much needed after two jam packed days!
Hope you at home are all ok!

Gary Pleased to see that you are still enjoying every minute. Barbara is very pleased about the thimble(s). P.S. Not much news about Little Little. Has she decided to do her own stuff and will send us a blog of her own.
