G'day mate,
I'm on the proverbial mic for today's blog session.
Since the last time we posted, someone has turned the temperature in this oven up a notch or too and we are roasting - good! Well it would be if we hadn't spent the best part of the last day or two on the road. The Great Ocean Road ended, and so promptly did all of the wonderful landscapes and beachside towns, leaving us travelling very boring roads (at one point Lauren was playing 'Eye Spy' with herself!) to reach our final destination: Kangaroo Island.
Actually, it's a little unfair to say all of the views and great towns ended. We stopped at a couple of great little joints with plenty to see, notably Warrnamabool and Mt. Gambier. On a sidenote, some of the town names are typical Australian town names. There are more Creeks than you can shake a stick at (Yabbey Creek anyone?) and some 'Tantanoola's and 'Goolwa's thrown in for good measure.
"Frog?! That's a funny name, I'da called it a 'Chiswozza'!"
As it turns out, we missed the morning ferry over to Kangaroo Island by a whisker. Probably a blessing in disguise because the lady at the SeaLink counter advised us it would be $350 for a 40min return ferry crossing. The words Rip (or f***) and Off sprung to mind. Instead, we made our way back to Victor Harbour and visited a wildlife park where kangaroos, koalas and the like roam free. A Steve Irwin imitator had a go at feeding the (saltie and freshie!) crocodiles. Fortunately for him, they weren't that interested, even when he (stupidly, in my opinion) started touching them up with a long, but not long enough, stick.
The 'Wicked' became a part of us (almost literally) and we had a great little routine going on: Rise early; grab a quick shower and some breakfast; convert the 'Wicked' from a boudoir back into its primary purpose: a travel wagon and look for somewhere cool to roll into. It's not a bad life, it has to be said. I think we're going to miss her a little after we had to begrudgingly give her back this morning.
We're now in Adelaide although only for a short while. I'm typing this whilst some fat european tries desperately to strum a rift on his acoustic in our hostel common room. It's actually heavenly to be staying in normal accomodation again, despite what I said above. Even though the room is simple, a double bed with a duvet and carpet on the floor is a God-send.
Next up is Sydney. Whoops!
Love to our readers! xxx
PS - Big shame about United winning the Carling Cup final. :-)

Robert Race "Call that a knife? THIS - is a knife." "That's a spoon." "Ah, I see you've played knifey-spoony before." Sounds awesome buddy-boy. Sydney will be average x
Robert Race Quick UK weather update. It got up to a sunny 9degC yesterday. Virtually shorts weather x
