SUNSET RESORT, WAYA ISLAND

After about two hours on the Yasaw Flyer I got to Waya Island to meet up with Twiggy, Bins, Hannah and Tans. When I got to the beach I was met by Fijians playing guitars and singing a welcome song and welcome shouts of ´bula!´. The girls had already been shark feeding in the morning which sounded like fun. Fred Roberts had also managed to meet up with them and there was a good group of us, since two guys ç, Nick and Phil, werre also staying on the island. We spent the rest of the morning playing volleyball and swimming in the sea, which by the way wa as amazing as it looked in the pictures! Spent the afternoon getting into the Fiji laid back lifestyle with a bit of sunbathing before heading across the sand bank that appeared at low tide to support the local village in a rugby village on Wayalailai island. We also saw the Nataw netball team play and Tans got to umpire part of the match! Unfortunately we lost the match, but Fred got the opportunity to play too!

Facilities are pretty basic on the islands, so the evenings are pretty chilled. We played cards and learnt some tricks from a local called Nessy - a real charmer! and then looked at the moon rise from the hammocks on the beach....

SATURDAY

I woke up to the sun rising through the window this morning, which was so bheautiful! Bins and Hannah weren´t feeling so well so Fred, Tans and I went rond to Nataw village for a visit in the little tin can boat which was pretty bumpy, especially on the way back when am massive wave came over the helm of the boat and soaked us!Tooks showed is around and introduced us to his really cute nephew, David. Life here is more basic than the village in Nadi and also less religious. They live in huts and have one chief, who we got to meet but he didn´t look all official! Tooks husked some green and brown coconuts, which we drank the juice out of, and then used the squeezed milk as moisturiser! In the afternoon we has a weaving lesson from one of the ladies from the villaage and I made a bracelet which even Nick managed to do too. also spent some time readingm, sunbathing and snorkelling - was happy to see my frist ble star fish and a yellow spotted sea slug. Tans and Fred and Nick had to heat to Nadi for more cash and to sort some uni things out. Met two really nice girls called fenella and Becky who had been to school with Bins - such a small world! they had been to Mexico city and had some useful tips for when I go and we could tell them all about Oz and Thailand...In the evening the Fijians showed us their fan, knife and fire dancing which were amazing. We also got to learn the bula dance, which is quite likethe macarena with some added bum wiggles, which was fun...
