Well...it has been a dramatic few days to say the least!! So much to say..I will try not to ramble..
Ok, so I am now in Bangkok (Thailand) but hav spent the past three days in Singapore. Luckily before we left Charlotte and I booked ourselves on quite a few trips so I was kept really busy and didn't really have time to worry about being alone.
On the first morning a car came to pick me up from the hostel and took me to the meeting point for a city tour. This basically just drove us around the main sights and enabled me to get my bearings a bit as at first I felt really lost. I can't actually remember the names of all the places it took us to (you will see in my pictures!) but I know we went to the main harbour, China town, to the gardens, up to a viewpoint and to a few department stores. It was a really good way of seeing all the main sights without worrying about finding them or getting lost (or even knowing that they existed!).
Then in the evening I went to the night safari which I had heard really good things about..it was good but not as good as I was expecting..wasn't like a safari at all more like a theme park ride.
On day two I went on a boat trip which took us out to see a few islands one of which we stopped off at. Really enjoyed this as I got to spend some time on a beach wheras the first day was just sight seeing and I had been looking forward to lying on a beach for months!! After the trip i took the bullet train to another Island about 2 mins off the main land calld Santosa. There are loads of things to do there, but predictably I headed straight for the beach (and got very sunburnt- not good when carring a heavy rucksack the next day!!). Then when it started to get dark I went to 'Under Water World' which again was good, but not as good as I was expecting. I have quickly realised how expensove singapore is and how over priced stuff like that is! Still glad i went though..
Day three (yesterday) was nothing to get excited about really..I Had my flight to Bangkok in the evening so I couldn't really do much and felt that I had already done all I wanted to do (and spent way to much money!!) so I just got the train into town and looked around China Town, Little India and Orchard road the main shopping street all of which were good to see..
OK, so here for the dramatic part.. As I just mentioned I flew from Singapore to Bangkok last night and I somehow, don't ask me how or why (yes I know what you are all thinking I am a complete idiot and deserve no sympathy!) lost my purse in the airport. I was in a bit of a rush and had to go to different desks to fill out tax claims forms etc and think that I must have had it in my hand and put it down at one of those.
So..plane takes off..drinks trolly comes round..i try to order a drink and realise I don't have my purse and therefore have no money and no credit card..PANIC... The air hostess was really nice and got the captain to contact Singapore to report it and they told me to go to the lost and found desk when we arrived in Bamgkok. I proeeded to cry for the next two hours of the plane journey..the poor guy next to me didn't know what to do. He has lent me 300 american dollars and some Thai money (I had forgotten how well crying works!) so I am ok for the moment. Although my purse has been found and I have given my permission for it to be put on the first flight in the morning..they are now saying that they don't have it. This is pretty bad as I am leaving Bangkok first thing in the morning on an 'Island hopping' tour. I will be back in 8 days but god knows if it will get sorted out and I don't really feel comfortable for it to hang around in bangkok airport for a week! The good news is that in my panic I forgot that I had hidden a cash card in my main bag and also my credit card in my handbag just incase so all I will loose is the money inside the purse and my student cards..which is quite a lot but not the end of the world!
Anyway enough with the drama, I am going to go to the airport to try and sort it out this evening-hopefully i can get it sorted and if not I will be ok and thats the man thing!
With all that commotion I have not really had a chance to do anything today so more about Bangkok, the island hopping tour and my purse in the next update!!
Missing everyone loads but not feeling too lonley yet! Will hopefully have some nice people on my tour!
lots of love and thanks everyone for my messages : )
