A bit of a boring entry..but though I'd update you on what iv been up to in Oz!

I got to Cairns Last Saturday so have been here 6 days now. It has rained pretty much constantly since I got here which has really restricted what I have been able to do..Cairns is a nice town but in weather like this it can get a little boring!!

The first day I got here I was so tired as I had had a 5 hour stop off in Darwin airport in the middle of the night so I didn't really do much, I also felt really homesick to begin with as I had been on a tour for the two weeks before so it felt weird to be on my own again in somewhere new. I found a cheap phone card to ring home and after that I felt much better!

Day 2 was the start of a 5 day Cape Tribulation (a place in the rainforest north of Cairns)... When I booked the tour in the UK it was sold to me as a 5 day 4 night tour in the rainforest..had I know what it actually was I never would have booked it!

Day one was a night in a s***ty hostel in Cairns, nothing else.. On day 2 the tour bus came and picked me up and we went off on a day tour which turned out to be pretty good. We went to a zoo in Port Douglas and on a river cruse on the Barron River where we saw a few crocodiles. After the day tour the bus drove us up to Cape Tribulation and literally dumped us in a hostel in the middle of nowhere with no activities or anything planned for the next two nights. I literally walked into my dorm saw how gross it was and went straight to reception to get on the next bus back to Cairns! It was pissing it down with rain and we were in the middle of the rainforest..the only thing we could do to keep ourselves occupied was to book on tours and the cheapest one was a two hour walk for 50 dollars! Luckily they took me back to cairns the next morning or I may have actually died of boredom!!

I met a nice girl on the tour though who also escaped with me back to Cairns so I booked into the hostel she was staying in for one night before going back to Cairns Beach house for the last night which was supposedly part of my 5 day tour. I Couldnt believe that though..it was literally just a day trip and then nights in the cheapest hostels they could find in the middle of nowhere!! I have complained so will hopefully get some of my money back!! Anyway it wasn't all bad as I then had someone to spend time with in Cairns so things started looking up!

Because of the weather we didn't do much but walk around town in the day..its a very small place so you get bored of it very quickly! Then there are some nice places to go out in the evening so we went out every night. Last night was good because we got talking to some Australian guys who were here for the bank holiday weekend and they took us out in their car today which was pretty good. We drove to another town in the rainforst and saw an amazing waterfall. It was really good to get out of Cairns for the day! There wasn't much to do here this evening tonight though as it's good Friday so everywhere was closed.

Tonight is my last night in Cairns as the Oz experience bus picks me up at 7am tomorrow to go to my next stop Mission Beach an hour or two's drive down the East Coast. I will be travelling alone again though unfortunately as my friend flies back to the UK tomorrow! I

Anyway, I'll keep you all updated on how the next few stops go!!
